Same time, during COVID for example, the senses of neighbors / neighborhood

I believe that already happened years ago. Recall reading an article about Margate calling it "Shoreditch by the sea", back when Shoreditch was still somewhat cool-ish.
Portland was a phase, def.
Many ppl went to LA. LA has come up aloooot in recent years.
Also Mexico City for some.
Of course the island of something called Berlin ( plus / minus ).

after a couple gap years and some japanese computer science college (which was a miss) I ended up at the infamous goldsmiths.
although South got its fair bit of new housing developments (Brixton's being slowly beaten up further as we speak) it does seem like a sensible area to live in.
NX is obviously out of question, but Deptford has a very decent vibe. thinking of moving there when I'm leaving north this summer.

yeah moving this week because our landlord refused to give us a rent reduction, got an extra bedroom and a balcony for less than what we're paying now. Very curious whether this is a London/NY only issue. Definitely the opposite moves here in Copenhagen.
COVID has made for / makes for shake outs in possibly all directions, it just doesn't care who you are.
Agreed w Pandiculate that it is a special time -
possible pluses for some, no ways outs for others.

I know someone who rents out an apartment here in the East Village. she had to drop the rent by almost $400 per month and throw in a month's free rent to get someone in. things will bounce back, but you can only increase rents by a certain percentage with each lease renewal or new tenant, so it'll take a number of years for that rent to crawl back up to the pre-COVID level.
