When you play bots you can get hints from the computer or even go straight up cheat mode and see every best move it recommends.
Obviously this is how people must cheat online.
It's a good learning tool though.
I imagine today's top players are all well schooled on computer moves. Don't think anyone can beat the computers now, they're just too good.

I’ve never played in tournaments. I think that’s why there are so many ‘theory’ type books. For the tournament player. It gets very much into recognition of all the named stratagems. Except for playing with my kid, almost every game I’ve played since the’00’s
Have been against inmates who have a very park player/hustler style. They try to manufacture momentum & tempo to throw you off. So, I play far more tactical than strategy (beyond the early development moves).
I used to bartend in this place that was a hangout for poker players. The Texas hold ‘em that was/is(?) popular on the pro circuit.
It turns out even card games like that share a certain regiment (can’t think of the proper term) & one of the big players back then who played those million dollar pot games said something like: “if I know, or even suspect a player is under the influence (drunk) I’m out!”
They are too erratic. It’s that choreographed.
That’s pro poker. It has to be that x1000 in high level chess.

Easier said than done but when you love an activity, I think it’s pretty true.
