I think Corpsey posted this in the 2011 hiphop thread, but since it's only out at the end of this month, and is one of the best hiphopthingies of recent years for me, it needs to be mentioned again.
Ka -Cold Facts - Grief Pedigree album
No idea who makes the beats/sounds.
There's a connection between GZA & Ka & other Brownsville natives. But he apparently directed the videos & edited them all himself, and by the quality of the words & the pictures, why should he not be equally gifted when it comes to beats ?
So in that vein, here's my 3rd fave of the ones posted by him off Grief Pedigree

Ended up rather arbitrary. The further down the list the more hilariously irrelevant the numbering became. Still, I am well disposed towards all of these tunes.
i dont think you lot really understood how good this verse is. i understand cos i just listend to it 15 times on repeat, just the 1st gunplay verse. he is the best rapper in the world/
Gunplay is ridiculous. I don't know if I could a whole mixtape but I'm looking forward to trying.
Just DLing the first one of these - Burn 1 & Diabiase's "Presidential Mixtapes" which are apparently a full schooling in "Country Rap" . There's like 8 bloody volumes already to add to the deluge.
Ka sounds like a more monotonous and less refined Roc Marciano. Would've been ANYONE in '97. Enough.
Marciano is great because he's kind of awful, and brilliant. The beats are always PERFECTLY nostalgic. Like, you listen and minus the sound quality of the mixing, you think you're listening to a cassette. Also, he's like Mic Geronimo after a stroke or something.
He also can barely move his face and his arms. Very robotic. I think that's where I get the stroke vibe from.
