The bigger danger is if he decides the Ukraine gambit has paid off and has a go at Poland or Finland next, because unlike Ukraine they're already part of NATO.

They haven't got very far the Russians have they? Kharkiv is practically on the border with Russia and they haven't even managed to take that after three years.

Well, for now. But I'm thinking of 10 or 20 years time. Putin might be dead or deposed by then, but I can't see him being replaced by someone with a significantly different ideology.

Ukraine has, until now, benefited from substantial help from the US. So things could rapidly change in the next year or so.

Poland though? They're in NATO and they've been doing really well economically I think. Russia's economy and army must be totally fucked by now.

Watched some CNN yesterday, they were starting to pull out those map graphics they do when a war's about to start, with possible targets drawn in and little missile icons and stuff. Is this a long term invasion plan, are they just started to get things prepped now, or trying to provoke Iran...
