the pills were straight fire + this was her first time rolling + i hadn't done it in ages myself, so we were both
10000% acen trip 2 the moon part 2 the dark side. we're luxuriating in the afterglow of our blissed up fuck time like real Olympic athletes, when my large and orange cat jumps up on the bed to investigate what was hapsenin, prompting Bengali goth ex girlfriend to shout ASPARAGUS UR A VERY SMONKY BOY, which freaked him the hell out, so he went and sat in the bathroom sink until she left and now whenever i see a very good cat i say to myself LOOK AT THAT VERY SMONKY BOY (but only to myself silently inside bc only me and Bengali goth ex girlfriend know what it is
to be a VERY SMONKY BOY and i don't want ppl to think im weird)

I think draft 7.30 is one of their best, it's really reconstructed Pharoahe Monch if you think about it hard enuf.

if malelesbioan became a tough boy with an ak47 strapped to his back then he could rap over this instead of trying to dip his riggly appendage in the methane stench of TV on the Radio.

@version see? reddit posters understands dialectics and does not hesitate whereas you want to go back to Deleuze, Guattari and Alex Empire

One of the things I always got from Draft 7.30 was warmth. The sounds of the opening track are so woody and acoustic sounding.

Always sounds like a huge creaking mechanical wood structure to me.

Side note: Some favorites include Oneohtrix and Tim Hecker, and my last listen to NTS provided me with the insight that one thing that sets them apart in the experience of listening to them is the degree of either embracing or rejecting the use of traditional sounds/instrumentation. Oneohtrix (especially later releases) keeps the listener grounded to the familiar with the use of more traditional and human elements (Electric Guitars, Stringed orchestral sounds, samples invoking radio spots). Tim Hecker goes a bit further into the abstract by keeping recognizable sound sources obscure or choosing non-traditional sounds (distorted organ, more archaic flutes in Konoyo). There is still some semblance of humanity in the sound selection though he allows his listeners to creep closer to the sublime by pushing those elements to the background and emphasizing emotional resonance by placing users in an abstract and unfamiliar place, where one may be more prone to clutching on to the familiarity of one’s own feelings. There is certainly sound sculpting to explore but I feel somewhat rooted in a familiar space (via emotionally familiar rises and falls) guided by Tim. There is a trust in Tim, and he does a great job of taking you to the highs.
Autechre is further out there. With Autechre I am an observer in a strange world. While they certainly can direct my emotional response with their music, NTS 4 mostly elicited a sense of fascination, occasional anxiety, and curiosity not by directing me, but by putting me in a novel and completely foreign, near physical space. There aren’t many sounds employed that ground me to anything familiar and I don’t feel they are “pushing an emotion” on the listener, rather they are letting the listener explore on their own. It’s a completely different experience but currently my obsession at the moment.

Deleuzians are afraid of the stars as much as the caveman, as it forces them to think of experiences that are not yet immanent.

simon luke and @Corpsey don't like AE because for them it is a betrayal of a parochial british music, but they are totally fine with Germans getting jungle wrong as a curiosity. Whereas I like Autechre precisely because they interrogate just how much dance music relies on technology and preset technology at this. I don't necessarily dislike Alexander Ocasio-Empire for his politics and his punk proclivities (paging @dilbert1) but I dislike him because he thinks his tormented existential traumas aren't shaped by technology. If he was clever he would dissolve himself into machinic circuits.

if you warp this in ableton so it is snapped to the grid you can layer it over this track from Autechre and everything I say will become clear. maybe one for @.....

what would be funny is to have the pitch of the track follow every warp marker so it always stays in time but but minor infinitesimal adjustments to pitch take place, as if you were mixing on vinyl.

so say it's at 127, and then the original track with the real drummer becomes 127.051 you hear it compensating for that to keep it at 127 sharp.

If people could maybe keep me informed when they're going to do their next q&a, I'll maybe ask them about amber again, or ask them why they were such dicks about it when I asked them about it a couple of decades ago on irc.

I've been without a computer for the last day+, but I might give it a go at some point.
It's not exactly quick and easy to set up warp markers over the course of an entire track like where the timing naturally floats all over the place - well, at least, if I'm gonna do a decent job of it.
I really only did it once before for this:
