Not been to those but been to the flower of Kent an old timers Jamacian pub round the corner where they do nights. Very casual but very nice.

Weddings are when you're allowed to dance as a white older person and everyone loves it. Evelyn Champagne King and everyone going mental

I take it Jamaicans nights in the UK are entirely different than what one is likely to find in the typical bar in the US? Because stateside I cant imagine an event I would want to go to less, and imagine most here would agree

I was sort of thinking of a whole adult oriented genre and everything. Like, wasn't jazz for adults in the '60s?

because the most roots thing you'd hear is Marley's "one love" and the DJ would probably get requests for Clapton's version of "I shot the sheriff". college students with bob Marley posters on their walls were always the worst people to hang with. poor guy, deserves a better legacy.

We were talking about Jamacian places owned run and patronised by Jamaicans

Music that is catering to an adult sensibility as opposed to reliving youth

Think about the most crudely caricatured grateful dead fan. Think tye dye bob marley posters from wal mart. Think about all white line ups who will talk to you like Jerry McJohnson off stage and belt 'JAAAAH' in the mic on stage and use the patois the entire set. Are wooks a thing over there?

That girl on the right has a tail.

I dunno...last 'cool' experimental gig I went to had some dork playing Elizabethan chamber music on an EDP Wasp with a pornographic She-Ra-style cartoon playing behind him, and hatchet-faced spinsters telling off anyone who talked. Would much rather have been getting trashed with that baseball cap bloke, yelling YEEEEAHHH MONNN! in each others' faces and blowing rave whistles to Ini Kamoze. Probably.
