another headline you never expected to read:

Generals privately brief news anchors, promise no military role in election

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley held an off-the-record video call with top generals and network anchors this weekend to tamp down speculation about potential military involvement in the presidential election, two people familiar with the call tell Axios.

Why it matters: The nation's top military official set up Saturday's highly unusual call to make clear that the military's role is apolitical, one of the sources said — and to dispel any notion of a role for the military in adjudicating a disputed election or making any decision around removing a president from the White House.

"The military is apolitical and will play no role in this election, never mind what that fatuous draft-dodging cunt might have told you", said General McSoldier today.

word is florida has been making extended efforts to count early votes and we might know definitively how it falls tonight. If Biden wins we would effectively know who the winner is pretty early

My first election I was I believe 17 and I was probably playing halo or something. in 2016 I worked the night shift and Trump had won by the time I was off. First time paying attention on election night and I have no idea how any of this shit works.

The first time I paid attention to an election was 2010. A mate and I stayed up all night drinking and watching it on TV, the Tories got in with the help of the Lib Dems and it's been downhill ever since.

Was talking more about the prediction models. How can Virginia be called when only 4 percent of the vote is in, and how can it be called for Biden if hes 80k votes behind Trump in the state

Oh, yeah I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with how districts are established. Like maybe the Trump votes are concentrated in a district such that most of them exceed the minimum threshold of majority.

The thing is nobody will accept the result
it doesn't really matter if people "accept" it in their hearts, just that they not start talking (or committing) violence over that lack of acceptance

and I think plenty of Republicans will except a Biden win. who won't, primarily at least, is the hard core of Trump's base.
