You don't even needa get conspiratorial to know that the US voting system is mired by incompetence, and counts are regularly off. Look at the 2000 race.
come on man

there's a huge difference between "the voting systems is imperfect" and "the Democrats are stealing the election with voter fraud"

Good thing I literally never said the latter. You've complained about my putting words in folks' mouths around here—grant me the same courtesy

Btw Wisconsin is my home state these days, which is why I posted, that may not have been clear

the “State of Wisconsin had 3,684,726 active registered voters on November 1, 2020.” There were 3.239 million votes cast. The turnout in 2016 was 67%. You would need 1.5 million same-day registrations to account for the differential. Even if turnout surged to 80%, you'd still need almost a million same-day registrations. There's no doubt these are crazy numbers. That in itself is very weird and interesting

This is a really weird result. Can someone tell me this isn't a really weird result? Either the same-day registration is nuts or the turnout is nuts or both. US elections never have turnout in the 80% range, never. I'm not alleging anything, but it's weird. Does anyone disagree it's nuts?

apparently that registered voter number is from 2018. We wont know how many registered voters there were until 2021

Naw, the old number was from 2018, the one that led to claims that the votes had exceeded registration. The new number is more than total votes, but still bizarrely low for votes cast

I’m not even alleging anything, I can’t imagine incompetence would fuck it up so badly, or that deliberate fraud would be so obvious, so it almost seems most likely that those are approximately the real numbers, but they're crazy numbers, no way around it I can see

This sounds about right.
President Trump’s late-night declaration of victory before he had earned it was an act of political sacrilege. It was also ruthlessly focused, the opening move of a scorched-earth strategy long-prepared by his inner circle should he be at risk of losing the vote.

His allegation of a giant “fraud on the American people” was not a reckless off-the-cuff remark in the heat of the moment. Leaked tapes from his Election Day Operations team leave no doubt that this gambit was pre-planned, a calculated move to discredit in advance what he knew would be a late surge of Democrat votes as postal ballots are counted.

This "blue shift" syndrome has become a pattern of US elections, and vastly more so this year after 100 million people voted by mail or in advance.
Trump has striven for weeks to taint postal votes and to impugn the credibility of the US electoral system - breathtaking chutzpah given that he controls the Justice Department, and that Republicans dominate the executive machinery of swing states.

He urged his supporters to vote only in person, aiming to create an even greater cleavage between the party colouring of the two sets of ballots that could then be exploited. This has been his strategy ever since Joe Biden pulled ahead in the polls.

It led to the spectacle that we have all just witnessed: an early Trump lead in several states evaporating later. It is an invitation to conspiracy theories, all assiduously amplified on social media, with militia waiting in the wings.

well yeah it was definitely and obviously calculated

a big problem for him is that in order to set it up he had to show his hand well before he made his play, so everyone was ready for it

i.e. media unanimously denounced it, GOP establishment started distancing themselves almost immediately - McConnell was making "count all the votes" comments today, and as we've discussed before there isn't anyone alive better at feeling which the wind is blowing and what the exact moment to jump ship is (or less scruples about jumping ship).

there isn't going to be an apocalyptic war. that doesn't mean some people won't get killed because some people think there will be one.
