Thinking about this, many words such as sleazy or filthy have been kinda re-imagined, at least in part, to have a positive spin, at times they can describe a dark naughty glamour... sordid however, never sounds anything but low-rent, grotty and... just bad. I think a lot of what we're discussing here is sordid.

Another half baked bean theorem - these newsreaders/tv presenters are somehow emblematic of women being professionally successful and respected, and therefore hornywanks, 18, living his presumably squalid life, feels empowered by bringing them down a peg or two wanking over a picture of them in the Sun. It’s a lower middle class sexuality as opposed to outright working class (no Jordan or Jodie Marsh). Also very provincial, you never really encounter this in London I don’t think.
