Diffusion Bee: A Stable Diffusion GUI - One click installer for Mac OS

an easy way to run Stable Diffusion locally if you've got a Mac with M1 chip,16GB RAM and at least 5GB free disk space

I'm just trying it out on an M1 Mac with 8GB RAM and it takes forever* to generate one image

advantages are that no technical knowledge required, just install and type in your prompts...

disadvantages - doesn't seem to be any way to set a seed, no init image ( "coming soon"), no batches, etc.,

* well, 5 minutes,...

will have a look but afaik the silicon chips differ drastically in terms of their computing power so the first gen m1s don't perform so well..

interestingly enough it doesn't seem to have a nsfw filter, wondering how long will it take before someone pipes certain tags to artsy art porn websites

it's been really hard to keep up with the latest developments since the release of Stable Diffusion - DreamStudio, the online stable diffusion interface is now up to one million users, my twitter feed is flooded with AI animation, loads of new GitHub projects, etc.,

and now some open source LAION CLIP checkpoints have been released in the last couple of days, which will undoubtedly lead to a whole bunch of new projects:

meanwhile, some websites have banned uploading AI images - it seems that the artists who are most in fear of AI art are those who do commissions for "furry" portraits and "D&D characters", which I'm not sure would be classed art by the gallery / art world cliques anyway...

I got stable diffusion working on an M1 Mac with 8GB RAM, but it took a few hours and it has to fall back on CPU as MPS support isn't fully implemented in pyTorch /tensorflow - one image takes about 10 minutes to generate...

I tried getting the MacOS plugin for Krita working, but that was a thankless task, gave up

yeah I have heard the pytorch support is still rather clunky, will be interesting to see though if apple decides to push into that market at any point.
as far as I understand for now it's all more about testing, training very tiny models or enabling better performance with some apps that require tensor calculation (ie my audio generation stuff works pretty smooth on M1)

In 2018 Google open-sourced the Quickdraw data set. “The world's largest doodling data set”. The set consists of 345 categories and over 50 million drawings. For obvious reasons the data set was missing a few specific categories that people seem to enjoy drawing. This made us at Moniker think about the moral reality big tech companies are imposing on our global community and that most people willingly accept this. Therefore we decided to publish an appendix to the Google Quickdraw data set.

I also believe that “Doodling a penis is a light-hearted symbol for a rebellious act” and also “think our moral compasses should not be in the hands of big tech”.

edit: this phrase in the quote above is in bold because of my emphasis, which I will repeat - "our moral compasses should not be in the hands of big tech" ( although of course my moral compass is not that loose that I would condone what is known nowadays as "CSAM", but I have at least one friend who enjoys drawings dicks all over her husband's prized comic books, and why should Google deny her that right? )

one for the "ethics committee" to chew on I suppose...
