I don't want to go over it again or discuss it here, but... I was frustrated at the level of communication, one facet of this was the Twitter approach to using the forum: posting a dozen 30 character responses. Something that was/is antithetical to what I loved about the forum - the insightful lengthy posts of its early years (go back through the threads and see the difference). This might be symptomatic of culture, members, or the devices changing over the years.

This wasn't aimed at Luka directly. But after I posted that he machine-gunned retorts in a combative tenor. It was exactly what I'd tried to tactfully outline as not helpful and not that useful - but I also didn't want to tell others how to post of course, it's not for me to say what this forum and its conduct is, isn't, should or shouldn't be about. All I could say was that for me, the difference between the threads and social media din (that I don't use and do not wish to) was diminishing. I was tired and frustrated, and his response felt QED to my gripe, it was more of what I felt wasn't productive or generous. So I walked away.

I think with the craner bumhole thing I think perhaps luke fingered his bum and it made him think craner would like it so that's where it came from. So it was all love really.

And I was also thinking how first the head then the bum, like we had pinhead and then we go from there to the arse.

I'm just relistening to the very first urbanomic plague podcast and he's talking about how the big thing in the early days of the pandemic was the perceived toilet paper shortage.

And he says the psychoanalytical reason is the only very compelling one.

I had a good idea for a TV series, Britain's best shits where you have someone describe a good shit they have had and there is a reconstruction of it etc

Well he doesn't actually expand on it but I think he means that we worry about shitting a lot. We are focused on that, we are an anal culture in other words.

That's what I take it to mean.

I think luka has a copy of my zine, notes from the path, which is a record of a walk I did a few years back, with two friends, of the hadrians wall path. 80 miles in 4 days.

Something that didn't make it into the zine is that my friend had a transcendental moment 2 days in when he had a shit. He spent about an hour on it and the other friend was getting annoyed cos itt put us back on the walking.

But when he came out, it was like he had been touched and caressed by the hand of god.

He had this brightness in his face and he was still talking about it 3 hours later.

When I went to the white hotel a few years back to see Helena hauff, my friend took a bean and then immediately needed a shit and at that time they only had one working shitter and there was a massive queue.

So I was outside with another friend and we were waiting for what felt like a very long time and then he came out and said it was well worth the wait.

And the two of them somehow got into a discussion about having a good shit and they came up with this wuestion:

"Would you rather have a good shit or a wank?"

And they both agreed they would prefer a good shit.

I don't want to reveal myself as the philistine I no doubt am here... and as a rule over thinking things tends to be a good thing, but even with that proviso I feel you might be over over thinking this particular point somewhat.
