Niiiice. Vocals are borrowed from this I guess but he puts a totally different spin on them that I love.

poss the Traumprinz thing is more in lineage of this v heavy-footed Johnny Vicious tripped-out-tribal-going-on-wildpitch tune using selfsame sample:

(4am at the Limelight in the deepest K-hole, Michael Alig eating your brain on the flyer)
not my fav jv thingy but somehow…impressive.

Good to hear though

I was re-reading Cloud Atlas and there is this bit where an old out of touch guy sees a punk in the queue and files him as a "Sidney Rotten" type.... it only just hit me that Johnny Vicious is the same joke. Easily confused with Johnny Dangerous and Johnny Violent though.

Never heard this before (I mean I haven't even listened to it yet) but let's see where it fits in the lineage

Edit: must have unconsciously used the word lineage after seeing you use it but it's appropriate enough

‘In line with…’ woulda been easily sufficient, I’ll admit

enjoying this skippetty designer loops tk better than traumprinz

poss leans closer to the frd version…shit early 90s …thought was contemporary pastiche biz

fuck it’s Voorn, didnae know, nice tip!

Orlando Voorn? I didn't know that either. Anyhow, looks like that was the first usage in 1991 (unless someone finds an earlier) and from what I've read Fierce Ruling Diva is the same people re-using that sample a year or two later but under a different alias. Then you got the Johnny Vicious slightly later - and thirty years later the Giegling guy had a go.
Nah lineage is good, it's le mot juste.

I like pretty much all those versions except the FRD one, and there are loads of mixes of that so probably - well, possibly - one of them is good if anyone can be bothered to check.

oh so you didn’t go “urgh dated or what!” on hearing the j vicious track? interesting. I like that heavy trippy ravey mid-90s nyc house sound (always sounds boss on vinyl, great texture, bass weight) but then there’s always one prod choice that really dates it to my ears. not that that should necessarily stop anyone.

Not really, I dig the bells and I liked the comments on yt from Frankie Bones saying it was a secret weapon for him and he used to rock two copies.
