Right, but I don't think grown adults with a major public profile routinely accused other grown adults of having small dicks in the 90s, unless my memory is worse than I thought it was.

don't forget, even Greta Thunberg's twitter team accused Andrew dickhead Tate of having "small dick energy"

I sort of remember one 'true' crime book i once read where Charles Manson was referred to as a "cricket dick" so that sort of body shaming may actually have been rife in the 1960s and '70s

and whether 13" inch penises are the norm, its certainly something that exists in the mind of the young porn watcher and shapes his expectations/anxieties and etc. and same goes for most porn practices you see Id say- it informs how you might act, sound, what moves to do and etc. I feel like this is generally agreed upon
my buddy gianni who you met at my party—he had shoulder-length hair glasses clearly born'n'bred new yorker—sent me a poem he wrote today, one line goes

"our language is lacking, not quite fit to form, forming more than describing"

which I think is important to remember about representation; it's part of what frenchy philosophers were on about with all the reflexivity business, but they just adapted it from half-century-old american cybernetic concepts of feedback

No this is also true, there's a concept called "hybrid vigor" in botany which is relevant, and my impression is that there are good studies on biracial immune systems being stronger. Ostensibly the details matter a lot and I'm not clear on what they are yet.

i work with "life sciences" people nowadays

and their / our management are all for "diversity"

so inbreeding is 'unhelpful'

i'm sure of that

the internet-porn assemblage is a big day to day cultural influence in the world now i think. for obvious reasons the conversation gets a bit stuck, no-one really feels comfortable in polite company talking about it in detail so its hard to parse, because mostly people are having these experineces solo and behind closed doors. it's a new media form that is really widespread and the twists and turns in the genre largely don't get much critical analysis.

i feel a bit out on a limb with this opinion but i more and more think our framing of art and media is stuck in the past, hasn't adapted to a new reality yet, though surely it's coming. there's still a sense that music, films, books and TV are the forms most worthy of attention. but none of these feel like where the action is. the libidinal dynanism, the places where new things are happening. that probably was the case from the 70s to the 00s or thereabouts. but there's a proliferation of new forms that are driving human beings that we don't seem to have the apparatus or media infrastructure to talk about very well. the old forms are starting to feel like they are petering out. things like podcasts, reddit forums, youtube microclimates, porn, short-form videos (tiktok and insta), playlists, apps, arguably body modification (gyms tattoos and surgery etc) feel more important and influential at the moment, and also where innovation within the form is most rapid.

I've read that YouTube copied features from Pornhub.

oh, I drunkenly deleted my post about how the "customers" at a place I once worked at would inadvertently reveal their "thing"

but one guy just came out with it and said "interracial"
Why)how would customers inadvertently reveal their kinks? And how did they do it that was different from just coming out with it?

I've deleted a bunch of posts

but let's just say I was a "system administrator" for one of the first "internet cafes" in the UK

Its advantages for porn companies to make sex anti social, whether they are consciously doing this or not
That's brilliant - if I'm getting it right, that word should have been "advantageous" right?

In which case, your argument is something like the following...

Porn clearly has an effect on desire etc
Preferences, kinks and fetishes have grown more or less popular due to the way they feature in porn, and, up to now that's been viewed simply as a side-effect about which pornographers don't care. For example, there are lots of big dicks in porn, and people start to care more and more about how big their dick - or maybe someone else's dick - is. And porn says "not our problem, we just make the stuff, you guys choose what you watch and deal with how it makes you feel"

But then some pornographer says "Wait a minute, we can influence how people think and yet we're not doing anything with that power? Why don't we use it? We could try and bring about world peace... only kidding, let's use it to make more money... and we do that by getting them to watch more

I'm reading it that you mean that it's advantageous for porn to promote pra

It did indeed, the edit didn't save.... shoulda continued here like this

But then some pornographer says "Wait a minute, we can influence how people think and yet we're not doing anything with that power? Why don't we use it? We could try and bring about world peace... only kidding, let's use it to make more money... and we do that by getting them to watch more porn. Now luckily it seems there has to be some erotism (ha) involved at the start so they can't make porn about preople giving them money and just watch it roll into their accounts, and I guess porn about watching porn didn't work either or wed be trapped in a horrible postmodern metaporn world of people making porn about porn to make us watch more porn porn... so the next best thing, porn about something you can pretty much never do in reality. Porn about incest - now ninety nine point nine percent of people are not prepared to cross the line and fuck their sister (if they even have one) so the only way to scratch that itch is porn. Porn that makes you watch more porn. Genius of a sort I'd say - though I wonder if it was accident or design, I lean towards the former cos I don't think there are loads of thinkers in the industry, I reckon most involved are just churning out product without stopping to think about any big theories...

But maybe I'm wrong. And now it has happened and you've noticed it - and it's a great spot, good work - someone in the industry surely has or will soon. And I would not be in the least surprised if the future holds a lot more porn designed to push us towards more porn. I wonder what else could work? I ain't gonna spend a lot of time thinking about it - presumably other things that straddle a line of just about acceptable in fantasy but not at all acceptable in reality - but I reckon I'll know it when I see it... or hear Corpsey talking about it or whatever.

This is on Discovery+ now if you have Sky in the house. We tried watching it last night and lasted about half an hour. Nowhere near as good as the twitter clips inferred

I'd rather watch Dave Lee Travis play Macbeth, as the saying goes
