@Benny Bunter tell us how you got to become a peter hitchens man
First became properly aware of him during COVID when I started getting really pissed off about my little boy having to wear a mask at school. Made me laugh how he called them 'face nappies' and 'muzzles'

Then read some of his tirades against e-scooters and I thought he was bang on cos I hate them

Then his whole take on the Blair era, so different to nearly everyone else, struck me as very insightful. Definitely changed the way I think about UK politics.

Best thing about him is his anti war stance probably, unlike his daft brother.

And there's some brilliant performances on question time on YouTube

Were you conscious of being radicalised into a lunatic during this process?

funny, the guy that gave me a few ableton lessons said he was dyslexic, and it def showed a a couple of points.
and it's not like he's dumb - he was a professor at calarts so I'm sure he was "properly taught" coming up
kind of pisses me off when people minimize things people have struggled with because they can't see inside people's brains (not that 99.999999% would even understand then anyway)
like, for example, they've seen that kids diagnosed with nvld have a smaller splenium than those diagnosed as autistic
do people not realize that this is basically on the same level as telling people visible physical genetic defects or something like missing limbs that they're making it up?

hes doing a jihad on dyslexia now, it's great

Funny, I'd thought dyslexia had sort of fell by the wayside in favour of adhd in recent years, but maybe it's becoming trendy again - I saw someone from the dyslexia association or whatever it is getting interviewed on the bbc news the other day, going on about how it's a 'superpower' and all the usual.

How did they make that out? What's the advantage in struggling to spell?

My flatmate had dyslexia and the number one too... a lot of people said to me "Are you sure he's not just thick?"

Yes, brain imaging studies have revealed structural and functional differences in the brains of people with dyslexia, particularly in areas involved in language and reading, including reduced gray matter in the left parietotemporal area.

Here's a more detailed explanation of the brain differences observed in dyslexia:

Structural Differences:
  • Reduced Gray Matter:
Studies have shown that individuals with dyslexia tend to have less gray matter in the left parietotemporal area, which is crucial for processing the sound structure of language.
  • Reduced White Matter:
Some research also indicates that there can be less white matter in certain areas, which is important for communication between different brain regions.

  • Disrupted Neural Circuitry:
Brain scans have revealed disruptions in the neural circuitry of children with dyslexia, particularly in the areas related to reading.

oh, and here's adhd

Yes, research indicates that the brains of individuals with ADHD differ from those who are neurotypical, showing differences in structure, function, and neurotransmitter activity, particularly in areas related to attention and executive function.

Here's a more detailed look at those differences:

Structural Differences:
  • Smaller Brain Size:
Studies suggest that individuals with ADHD may have slightly smaller overall brain volume, especially in childhood, although these differences tend to be less pronounced in adulthood.
  • Smaller Brain Regions:
Certain brain regions, including the prefrontal cortex, cerebellum, hippocampus, and amygdala, may be smaller in volume in people with ADHD.

  • Slower Maturation:
The prefrontal cortex, crucial for executive functions like planning and impulse control, matures more slowly in individuals with ADHD.

  • Disrupted Connectivity:
Studies have shown atypical connections between the brain's frontal cortex and other regions, such as the amygdala, which processes emotions.

  • Changes in White Matter:
Research indicates that white matter tracts, which connect different brain regions, may be less organized in individuals with ADHD

I wouldn't take Peter Hitchens too seriously, @..... . He's a known crank.

don't know much about him, besides seeing his or his brother's name a lot over the decades.
I think i watched some debates in the past re: atheism vs religion concerning something like if religion does more harm than good, but i think that was his brother.
oh, and this 12: https://www.discogs.com/release/10201544-Pessimist-Through-The-Fog-Peter-Hitchens - not sure why one of the tracks is named after him - some kind of joke, maybe?
