I went to a funeral the other week and it was fully Catholic, really weird stuff, cult-like
It gave me deep sympathy for all the little Catholic boys and girls who were forced to sit through all that shit and get told they're sinful (not to mention the ones who got molested)
The incense and the 'theatre' of it was mildly impressive, probably would have been more impressive in a giant gold'n'stone church like St Peter's
I didn't find any of the biblical passages interesting or moving (you probably have to believe in heaven/god to get that feeling), the most moving aspects were the very personal eulogy (which apparently isn't usually part of a catholic funeral) and some poetry
My mum's family is Catholic, she was very moved by it all.
In summary: thank God I'm not religious.
