its odd to think about really..... i cant comprehend life before social media...... its something striking when i watch old movies or read books..... what did people do? what was life really like?
yes don't listen to these uk madmen you are an american boy it's like they're trying to give advice to a zebra it's totally differentthis seems wrong advice, only follow your dream. or whatever
i dunno i don't think it's that hard to find if you're already in bushwick already going out to dance and all of that i know him from years ago and he was talking about it coz he wanted some advice and he thought that probably i'd done all of that in the sex clubs and so on - when in fact i am a sweet romantic boy like kid charlemagne isyour mate sounds committed
wash are there clubs with darkrooms in the uk? some pretty well known clubs here have them. house of yes at least used to kind of be a sex party and basement has a whole section to have sex in the dark in. i never heard of that in our Glorious Landat least it isn’t a demountable out-building with a mini-bar and paddling pool full of baby oil and ring worm in Blackpool

part of why i even ask or bring this up, is not for some "i was born in the wrong time" diatribe, but given i have no idea what to do in life, i think of times back then without technology, where you could just make a wrong turn and keep going and start up somewhere else so easy in life. you could be an outlaw.... just rob a bank, ride off and you wouldnt get caught..... sometimes i wish i could do this in my day, just drop everything and wander around the country and never say a word to anyone ive known in life ever again..... i have no idea what to do in my life which i think is part of why this thread exists and part of why i think i fall hard with women.I've been meaning to circle back to this.
It's funny you ask what did people do because I see some of my younger family, like nieces and nephews, having almost never have left the house because it seems like all they do is social media and video games.
edit: My sample size might be a bit skewed though since one of my sibling's children have raised in a Japanese environment and/or cultural influence even after coming to the states.
Not all of them younger family, but definitely some, and it seems rather sad.
I mean, we played video games from the days there were atari 2600s, but we also went out to video game arcades, or even went to other friends and neighborhood kids houses to play them.
I don't want to get stuck on that though because this isn't a rant against video games (hell, I'd probably still be playing them right now if I had decent motor skills and visual/spatial skills - call out to index finger hunt-and-peck typing massive!)
I also don't see kids out in the streets playing with other neighborhood kids as much anymore.
and the last few Halloweens, no matter where I've lived from Seattle to the southeast, there has been little, if any at all, kids going around my area to trick-and-treat, and that must be emblematic of something.
I'm thinking a lot of this must have to do with parents keeping a tighter and tighter leash over the decades.
later in my teens I'd be hanging out with other teens, maybe listening to music together, trying to find ways to get fucked up, maybe going around town raising hell and causing a little trouble, and maybe dating and so on... and, and GET THIS - now I know it seems kind of scary, but we also used to actually use the phone for its original purpose - talking to each other, live and in real time when you could hear the other person speaking!
by the time I was when in say, in my early 20s, besides DJing at least once a week, I was still going out probably at least an average of 3 other nights a week - even traveling to different cities sometimes to spice things up
and that's with a lifelong struggle with social skills and often feeling very isolated because of nvld
i guess the question is, what do you younger people do now? what is your life really like?
part of why i think i fall hard with women.
in your 20s you agonise over what to do with your life and then you do nothing with it and then in your 30s you make peace with being a paste person (copyright @luka ) and then you get to about 40 (moi) and you REALLY realise your life won't amount to anything and yet the creeping fear of death starts shadowing your every movement
