Can anyone remember what the original folders were? I'm sure there only used to be three or four? You'd click on music and get 24 pages of Zhao arguing that AIDS was a hoax, or read a load of stuff about estuaries and seabirds in Thought.

I liked Covid-era Dissensus: long sunny days playing Rudewhy's speed garage and Murphy's 23+ Top 100s.

Re; the op: gosh I hope not!
I just joined/signed up. I have zero social media presence (until now I guess)), due to the nature of my former profession. Just retired from a law enforcement job here in nyc. I was lead here by my reads. Mark Fisher in particular. I’ve almost always been politically/philosophically curious/active, but my former employer ensured through 16+ hour tours of mainly tedious (if necessary) with a decent amount of down time (spent reading mostly) punctuated by moments of extreme violence and horror.
With the ‘loss of professional identity’ and now in my 50’s trying, but mostly failing to find intelligent people to read, interact with.

This is my first post & I suppose my attempt at an introduction.

Hello people.

Hello, welcome! I'm sure we would all be curious to hear stories from the job if you ever want to make a thread. Loved the Nightjack blog back in the day, all the beat cop stories.

I lived in the city for a decade. @dilbert1 is in NYC these days as well. @Leo is in Rikers which is close enough
Thank you for the welcome/kind words.
Wow, had no idea there were other LEO’s on this site. Glad to hear it. Rikers island was my beat.

It all stemmed from this revelation i had on mdma where i was getting really frustrated with that demateriaisation thread cos no one would go along with it they were just abusing me and calling me a cunt so i methodially went round giving them all a biscuit and calling them a clever boy and suddenly it popped off they all started behaving.
That's how it works isn't its really crazy. Everyone is keeping score and practicing retribution totally unconsciously in these minor social ways. I have seen it over and over too many times to miss it
