Nottingham has gathered and harnessed a few notable house collectives and individuals throughout various decades and despite a more nuanced range of producers either sliding into semi-retirement or dying, greatly enjoying the quiet work (not that he ever truly retired) of Nail’s recent house release projects and more deconstructed Valium/pop-orientated/beat sequence/hybrid guise as Goose Fair Island

I’ll leave the house jams for cotd but two lp’s just as GFI this year alone and plenty more in previous years with a series of short slightly strange non-sequitur styled tracks. Be interested to hear what @woops might make of such or be insulted too ;)

Fwiw, Goose Fair island is a roundabout where the larger than life model of the Goose Fair’s goose takes prime position for a long week(end) as Goose Fair is an annual event of primo Grim Britannia

Why is this relevant? Guess it’s what you do next after a release like Cassiopeia or an lp like Big D’s Lounge, a decade plus of ruthless quality control, how his material had previously spread all over the world similarly to Charles Webster, how deft his music could elevate itself to while thumping fully, what you do when house itself almost entirely withered and collapsed. I know he did a pop collab (not my groove) for a while through the early 00’s/later as one half of Bent, yet this year alone he’s kept rocking as consistently as ever

House crew is mercilessly prolific for those of you who listen or are familiar with such terrain

.. think the bulk of the new stuff I've listened to this year's been the tunes I've been posting in the Jungle thread.

I was browsing in a second hand book shop earlier today for about half an hour and they had the radio on playing generic 80s and 90s power ballads and I was really enjoying it.

I never go anywhere in a car nowadays, but I can imagine a long car journey with the radio on playing hits still being enjoyable

Has there been any really good universal pop songs that came out this year? If there have, I haven't heard any. There's usually at least one or two.
