the hideousness of contemporary record artwork

and I took a break from "pressing buttons" for this 😆

I'm glad you did

I may have been disappointed by Jeff Mills concept albums since "metropolis" but I'm not prepared to write him off just yet

he is a genius and I admit that I may have just not caught up with where he is going, I'm sure he is light years ahead of us

I did watch a video recently where he broke down some techno tune and I was amazed at his levels of insight and erudition, I was left open mouthed

Speaking of 909s, I don't know if you heard that Thirdform track I did, but I made a lot of the sounds by affecting warped and broken 909 sounds.

yeah, like a lot of the drum sounds, and "swirly" sounds, and what almost sounds like people talking or singing in a chorus in the background (in certain parts) is from 909

Without (yet) listening to it. I don’t take any offense. If pressing a button “makes people dance” never mind meaning anything. You win.
I’m old fashioned where (as I am not one) a composer ‘cause sound that makes Europeans twerk is considered genius…..it’s like Gaelic or pre-Christian sounds, heresy to one such as you and far too many of your generation….embarrassingly ofey.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I shall shake my fist at the clouds.
William Kent and Blissblogger are both in their sixties. Definitely not millennials lol. They remember steam trains.

I have been on a steam train - but only on a historic line deliberately kept that way (near Corfe Castle in Dorset)

Also Kieran aged 4 was really into Thomas the Tank Engine so we went to this open day thing where they had working steam trains and they put the faces of the characters, all the different engines, on the front of the locomotives. It freaked him out a bit, actually.

I can remember traction engine rallies as a kid - is that still a thing? That was again more of a preservationist, vintage-car type enthusiasm though, as opposed to something practically used for haulage.

In a funny sort of way using a hardware Roland 909 is a little bit steampunk .... nowadays a kid would get all of that in their phone I should imagine.

Also been on this - a half-size train pulled by a steam engine. For many decades, the smallest railway in the world.

They have a carriage with a tea room, you can have a cup of tea while on the short journey to Dymchurch.

@GhostofKinski reminds me of the rock version of my cousins that have always been so into hip hop that they can't get their heads around the fact that black people have been deeply involved in other kinds of music both here and in the UK.
Nah, I honestly & sincerely don’t have any problem with anyone’s musical taste.
I’m just a fan of the rule of reciprocity.
My thread gets trolled so I’m just doing my part
