Its good.
No logan sama though.
Def weird watching it as someone barely in the loop with grime anymore. Made me a bit misty eyed. Always good/pleasantly weird to see dizzee as a grown man. Weirder still (and not quite as fun) seeing kano all sophisticated and measured thesp and man of arts and culture post top boy.
XL need to do a boy in da corner box set innit. 10 vinyl set with a radio rip filling up one disc.

Always wondered what happened to Elijah and skilliam
They're still out there djing, the label isn't too busy these days, but Elijah in particular seems quite active as a writer / podcaster - he's actually using Instagram in a pretty interesting way to share thoughts about the world of music. Skilliam mailed me a copy of their last release as a thank you for doing the mix, so that was nice!

Thats interesting. Is that new information or has that been around for years? Im still not 100% sure what really happened after listening tbh. But i guess no one wants to say really. Someone needs to do a true grime crime podcast in the future.

feel like alot of the stuff recorded is things that have been known for years but unless you weren't on the roads like that then you wouldn't know (which says alot about how much social media has changed that and given "neeks" the window into that world)

Here's a new mix of mine - I've done a fun little selection of mid-00's (mostly) vocal grime tunes, which is a bit of a departure for me, as I normally play instrumentals. It meant I had to rethink how I do the mixing, so it was a kind of fun experiment.
From the blog post to accompany the mix:
"The idea of the mix was to look back at the mid-2000’s period when grime was really taking off and pull together some interesting tracks released by (or remixed by) grime artists on non-grime labels, specifically on major labels as well as by well-known non-grime independent labels.
Obviously, this is a pretty niche topic! Like, I get it, it’s ridiculous. But I thought it might make an interesting mix – looking at grime artists negotiating the line between underground street tunes and crossing over to more mainstream audiences. If you listen to this mix, you can hear this tension – you can hear some completely uncompromising tracks, as well as stuff with softer edges and more pop flourishes ."
