apparently Villalobos dropped 'Left Leg Out' on Saturday. my friend and I honestly called this the moment we heard the record, it's getting pretty easy to spot "Ricardo's dubstep picks". wish I was there.

i'm sure dubstep and minimal will make fine friends both hermetically sealed scenes with interest from the media, similar producer led outlook on life similar problems with moving beyond current stereotypical styles.

it's a pretty impresive statement from tectonic. i like it a lot. the mix especially. i think dubstep labels need to do more of this sort of thing.

lol i have little more to tell im afraid! its on his digital danger mix (which is on barefiles), coming in at around 1hr10:40
its very very minimal, dark, some really interesting rhythmic work with amelodic textures, a lot of emphasis on fx and atmosphere
only stays in the mix unnacompanied for a short time though

i quite agree but i'm getting tired of hearing pretty tedious half step chuggers week in and out, it's about ten piles of poo to every five good to one amazing at the mo, which is ok but not great, it's about the same with minimal bits too.

i also think what some of the fwd-associated grime producers are doing is incredible... ie dump valve of late, plasticman etc
i agree about ratios (roughly), but i guess what i feel is that when there is still such a large number of excellent tunes coming through, which are pushing the vanguard as far as they are (imo), im not gonna complain
im gonna be very selective as to which djs i see, thats for sure
and the initial point was about difficulty in making advances with the sound to be fair, not quality control

benga is an absolute fucking don, there is so much more to come from him.
Hijak - sweet jesus, some of his tunes are massive, slomo junglist mayhem.
Caspa - fabulous dayglo rave business, I love it, got some dubz from him that will absolutely and totally blow away a dancefloor.
I do NOT agree about the ratios, there still aren't that many bad dubstep records coming out AFAICT. There are some ropey CDRs out there but they haven't been released. Anyone want to name names?
