another example is the documentary "SEX: THE ANNABEL CHONG STORY" where after appearing in the "world's wildest gang bang video" she returns from LA to Singapore to visit her family and her cruel male cousin shows stills from the gang bang video she didn't even get paid for and he asks " is this you?". cue tears, disinherited, disowned, etc
Maybe it was the "didn't get paid" part that he found so shameful?

Canny bunch, the Singaporeans.

with how erratic his social media presence seems to be, he appears to be somewhat of a chore to be around. dont really feel the need to actually read his books

Didn't he go full MAGA a few years ago? Anyone know if he's moved on from that?

He got fed up with his mentally ill millennial boyfriend ranting about Trump all the time and tried to blow his frustrations up into cultural criticism.

I never got the impression he was an enthusiastic supporter. I think he just hates a certain kind of American liberal and has a contrarian streak. He's also very insulated, so people whining in his private life was more of a headache for him than Trump's policies.

I can see how a certain kind of person might feel driven to do that, but all the same, being pro-Trump (or pretending to be) just to 'trigger the libtards' is a pretty conventional way of being contrarian, isn't it?

He's a rich guy in LA with a young, liberal boyfriend who spends a lot of time on Twitter. He's responding to what's around him.

Yeah sounds likd you nailed that pretty well. I remember reading interviews at the time and there is no way you could call him full-blown MAGA.
