Funky House is dead. Long live Booty House...

and yeah, indie scenesters totally love guitar music because they're anti-networking and just all about the music. puhlease.
Anyway isn't funky house just popular because there are actually women at the dances?
You've just hit the nail on the head, my friend.
‘Yeah Yeah’ actually was something of a mainstream hit over here (it reached number two on the U.K. charts, for example), so it’s a little unfair to compare it with grime or dubstep tunes.
"that sleek Mittel-European noodling is boring, you can't imagine people losing control or getting sweaty can you, they might spill their Martinis, get a cocktail stick in their eyeball. They're all too busy networking and taking photos of one another. No wonder most kids want to listen to guitar music!"
sigh, all this anti-'microhouse' rubbish is so ill-informed. can't imagine losing control or getting sweaty? what? seen any club photos lately.
the whole tirade seems to be conflating a Ricardo Villalobos CD with a Ricardo Villalobos DJ set....
I don't know what they're playing either, dom, but it sounds like plain ol' House to me. Why add the "Funky"?never got a fully satisfactory answer, but liked these answers best

all in all, i sympathize with what appears to be the culture and vibe of the london funky house djs, as described by matt mason. but i still haven't any real notion of what this music sounds like
This guy has loads of live video recordings of funky house sets. There is some electro-house in there, too.

I'm trying not to take this too seriously, but I don't know...people moaning about dubstep being 'over-inscribed' and 'potentious' obviously haven't been down the front at fwd during an N-Type set.
Anyway isn't funky house just popular because there are actually women at the dances instead of none at the rare-to-non-existent grime raves? Grime didn't really have a proper network of clubs like jungle or garage/2-step anyway, those adverts for funky house have been on rinse for years right through the grime era, purple E3 and all that. I assumed thats just where people went when they weren't taping Dizzee and Doogz off the radio.
They're talking about this on rinse right now! Funky House vs. Dubstep vs. Garage.is it fair to say that rinse.fm generally plays funky house these days?
the adverts are really annoying
they've got "dj superior" on now -- he's better than the adverts at least
i think i should tune in for a few days, before i spout an opinion . . . .
