Wasn't he talking about females? I guess the rest of what you said could stand unchanged about the people in question though.

I think that most of them do - that was my point. I'm asking why you assume that they don't?

Mistersloane meant men. I think?

Most of men respect women? We live in frighteningly different worlds, Idle. Where do you live? Can I move there?

Who are these "males", Nomad? I don't think like that and neither (I'm fairly sure) do any of my male friends. Sounds like you are equating ownership of a Y chromosome with a tentency to read FHM and have no interests outside of beer, football and 'pulling birds'. Yes, there are men like that, but there are plenty who aren't.

I'm not talking about just FHM types. You don't have to be an extreme example of a loser to lack respect for women. There are plenty of charming serial killers out there who don't drink Coors Lite out of a can or watch football.

I've only ever heard men talk about sex as a sort of "conquest" after which you've "possessed" your partner. I've never heard any women I know talk about men as possessions, except maybe as a sarcastic joke.

P.S. Of course, I'm sure there are men who respect women on earth. But I wasn't talking about them, I was talking about the kind that don't!

Where do the punk girls fit in to those sentences if they weren't the ones doing the "breaking" of the boys?
I think you're reading what he said and taking from it what you want, not what he actually said. You can probably explain the psychology of that better than I can.

I meant most men leave teenage girls alone and I stand by that.

Yes, but most people aren't serial killers - even the men who do watch football.

First, Mistersloane is gay. That means his "set" would be male on male set.

Second, you can "stand by" that all you want, it doesn't change anyone else's experiences.

Third, did I say most people are serial killers? I'm talking about the people who are. Deviants, right?

Not necessarily. Let me ask you again, if it was men "breaking in" men why did he say "gotta love punk GIRLS"?

So what are you saying here? Let me just get it straight - most men do molest teenage girls?

You said you distrust all male high school teachers - I'm just pointing out that only an idiot would do that.

I didn't say i REALLY distrusted male high school teacher. God. British people never get sarcasm, do they? An idiot thinks that everything someone says is DEAD SERIOUS. I was kidding about having had the old stereotype about pervy teachers been proven true to me.

And as a female, I will "stand by" the fact that I have been disrespected and seen other women disrespected by all manner of males, of all education levels and from each tax bracket. Not *every* man I've ever interacted with, but I would say it's probably more than 50/50 in my experience.

Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
First, Mistersloane is gay. That means his "set" would be male on male set.
I sincerely doubt he's hung around exclusively with other gay males since the age of 13, though.
If he's talking about his own experiences of adolescence I should imagine he means the group of kids he went to school with/hung aroung with at that time, i.e. a certain socioeconomic group and possibly a certain subculture (hence "punk").

Er, I guess. Mistersloane...?

And you were kidding above when you said all men molest teenage girls right? I love your arguing style Nomad, you stick to a point until you get proven wrong, then you say "I was joking" and a couple of minutes later (soon coming no doubt) you say "and anyway I was right because.."
My main point was I hate that everyone jokes that anyone who helps out young kids is a paedophile because a lot of people are just genuinely nice and they are going to be the ultimate losers of that lame knee-jerk attempt at humour (which has a real edge to it).

He said "his crowd" and also talked earlier about "breaking boys in" so I thought he was talking about the same crowd, i.e. queer or gay people.

Just my impression, could be wrong.

Ha, brilliant! While I was writing that last reply the "and anyway" bit I was predicting just appeared right on cue....

Huh? when did I say "all men molest teenage girls?? Please show me where I said that. I was giving examples of some pervy stories. And I wasn't "arguing" about anything.

I wasn't really "trying to be funny" either, just making light of what I know to have been pretty painful situations for a lot of people I know in an attempt to understand why many people are so terrible to other people.

What about it, Idle? Hate to break it to you, but a lot of women have been treated badly by men. Nothing personal to you, it's just the truth, and in my experience, all too true.

If anyone's jumping from "a lot of bad things have happened to me at the hands of men" to "all men are bad", it's you, not me. I never said "all men" were anything.

And this is boring.

What?

You have your experiences, other people have theirs. Life's like that! Some people will probably disagree with your impressions of the world, because they've had different experiences! Big deal.

And no woman has every treated a man badly? :slanted:

I'm sure they have, though I haven't really seen any woman beat a child to within an inch of their life, and I've never had a nurse tell me about the three-year-old whose rectum they had to surgically reconstruct after social services took the boy away from an abusive WOMAN
