Repetitive
Yeah I was being mean about Distance, which isn't really fair as he has made some great tunes in his time. Saints n Sinners is one of my favourites for example. I just can't help but feel he's going to be a touch ploddy compared to everyone else on that line up. And what do you do if your tunes can't compete rhythmically? Why harder wobbles of course!

Edit: oh and V and Traffic both meet said description as do a number of his other tunes. You'll have to be more specific I'm afraid.

There was one guitar thing he did that was a bit naff but Traffic was made in 2005 I think so at the time was just one part of the rich tapestry of dubstep (tm). Kind of went along with that Vex'd tune (looks it up - Killing Floor) for me. Nothing wrong with a bit riffing. V was the one that took it a bit further in to metal riffs wasn't it? That was alright as well, good fun. Don't knock the rock!

we can delay.ay.ay...
am i the only one that thinks it's a bit funny (and yeah, a bit boring) that there's a 2004 set being played at a night called FWD?

Do not read this.

the one i am thinking of is as half step as you can probably get, and it literally is an electric guitar being played over the top of it, some rock heads probably go crazy over it, me, I actually hate it..i hate it lol..

by the way, killing floor, big, armour-iron man, big

I think I know the one you mean actually. It's not very good.

bandz ahoy
V is fucking big, as much as I hate pretty much every other metal/rawk-ish dubstep tune... Cyclops is my favourite Distance tune.

I reckon I wouldn't be that arsed anymore if I went to a FWD and only one of the DJs was playing wobble. I might even appreciate it a bit more. At Brainfeeder Joker was playing tunes like Wheres My Money and I actually could see the appeal a lot more as it wasn't surrounded by identical tracks... oh, and he played it for about 20 seconds, which was about right.

(Anything more and I'd have coughed loudly and shook my head in Joker's direction, indicating that the guy with 5000 posts on Dubstepforum isn't entirely happy... then presumably he'd have snapped the CD in half and hari karid his guts up with the shards in supplication...)

I kinda fancy getting pissed and seeing n-type do a wobble set in the near future actually... It'd have to be someone quickfire, cos most of those tunes get old after at the most one minute.

Hahaha.
Fwiw, I reckon the Where's My Money remix might be the best thing that Caspa has been involved in. Certainly an improvement on the original.

yes at brainfeeder gaslamp killer played wobbly rusko bits next to kinda 60's/70's la funk rock and it kinda worked too, for me. its strange it kinda works in the context of rock for sure.

Of course it can be alright and fun if that's not all there is. And if it's good.

But if crappy wobble is rock it's still crappy rock. Rock music can be groovy and sexy and dance music can fucking rock! I don't like drawing those lines, hate it when 'dance music' people get dismissive of 'rock' as much as when 'rock' people won't listen to 'dance music'. Let's rock!

headstrung, you mean? I bought it for some reason, kind of half-regret it.

distance has made plenty of great tunes.. feel me, traffic, ska, radical, memory loss, those early hotflush 12"s, all that breaksteppy ethnic sounding stuff.. I think he pretty much ran out of steam a year or two ago though.
