I mean, I like lists - couldn't live without 'em in my daily - but I reckon I've spent more on plastic this decade than the inhabitants of Belgravia and Kensington combined (except mine didn't give me better cleavage or the smooth brow of an eight year old..)

Listening a lot to Actress' "Hazyville"; when it was released at the end of 2008 I didn't appreciate it all that much but now, after having given it the attention it deserves, I recognise it as one of the most innovative albums of electronic music in the last couple of years. Besides that, I frequently put on Leyland Kirby's ambient magnum opus "Sadly, The Future Is No Longer What it Was". Magnificent stuff. Oh, and for indulging in autumn melancholy there's still no better choice than Marsen Jules' "Herbstlaub".

Indeed it is. I'll admit to being a little apprehensive about devoting so much time to it, what with most of the 20 tracks averaging around the 13 minute mark - however, eventually, it only took a couple of listens to confirm what I'd suspected from the outset - that it'd be absolutely worth it.

Also mildly hooked on Pev's new LP. I'm told 'Jarvik Mindstate' isn't supposed to be an album, more a collection of tracks. If that's truly the case, then it certainly doesn't play that way. Exceptional stuff. Easily one of the releases of the year, in my book.

Should also mention Consequence's new album 'Live for Never'. Really impressive stuff from the young Kiwi.

The Leyland Kirby is weak IMO. Pretty watered down ambient shit. An infinitely better album (almost) in the same vein in gesellschaft zur emanzipation des samples - circulations, released last year also. Doing so much more with dynamics/warmth/structure/whatever.

Been enjoying Conlon Nancarrow's mental studies for player piano recently. Sounds like Zomby on prepared piano.
