John you are in Germany these days ?
Nice lineup ... Mark Chung - the bass soul spirit of ENB past ,
for years music publisher and doing well i hear.

Er, no. I will tell them to change that (possibly to something even more exotic like Palama!)

It's a great line up and I hope to see Mr Chung in action...

oh it was great, really well organised, great programme, lots of fantastic people.

Full write up soon if I manage it but it seems they are planning a fair bit of documentation themselves, starting with a highlights youtube vid for each day on their blog:

there are no accidents
i enjoyed the 2 nights and 1 day i was there. some of the day time modern classical programming i had a little gripe with, but it was saved by excellent evening concerts.

saw that bloke from the Wire speak... interesting enough... damn what was his name... thick irish accent, went on about a copy of a copy of a copy and the hiss of the cassettes... and only heckled a likkle bit ;)

what did y'all talk about mid day sat.? really wanted to be there but just couldn't make it...

and how did your set go on sunday night? wanted to see it as i haven't heard any solid good reggae dj sets live in quite a while... but i think 3 nights at that place would've been a bit much.

Thanks for showing out Zhao!

Bloke from The Wire was David Keenan (and his accent is Scottish). I thought he was great - we'd corresponded about a book he wrote a few years back, but I assumed I wouldn't have much in common with him cos I am not so much into the whole post-industrial noise thing these days.

But actually a lot of the stuff he was talking about (cassette and CDR culture) had a strong resonance with my take on zines and other things. Plus he had great energy onstage, pacing about.

Mid day Sat panel Rupture and awesometapes talked about their use of african music and how they got into it. Kodwo was more on a general tip about what it all means and was very funny ("germans are MUCH more exotic than Africans!"). I just kept it flowing really and added some things about my take on it all (i.e. trying to restrict my tastes to London MC music lol).

Set was OK, not a big crowd and the barman closed the bar 15 minutes before I finished. Olaf came on after me and played til late to a bunch of people many of whom were involved with the fest and getting progressively drunker.
