Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to imply that anyone could just decide to be an artist one day and that was that, that it didn't take lots of training and hard work - just that some people fancy themselves as artists (or writers, actors, musicians, DJs...) like it's their vocation, when really they have a normal job as well or are unemployed or independently wealthy and do that as a hobby.
I dunno, I'm probably sounding some career-obsessed dick who thinks that what you do for money defines who you are as a person, which is not what I mean - I'm mainly thinking of that girl I mentioned a post or two earlier who thinks of herself as an actress although she clearly isn't, by any reasonable definition. I mean, it's not even like she does am-dram stuff, that I'm aware of.
Whereas you don't come across wannabe construction workers that often, I'd have thought.
