Not on grimetapes yet, fresh ones.

Will and Flowdan, Rinse, from 2001
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ARX1T2Q5

Will and Breeze, Freeze FM, 2003
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MQUHFK64

DEE and God's Gift, 2000 I think. Garage dub of Super Sharp Shooter and that, DEE's voice still sounds that garage MC sound as opposed to when he changed his voice.

Nasty Crew b2b Boyz in Hood on Déjà Vu Summer 03ish
DJ Mac 10 ft Kano, Sharky, Armour, Hyper, Monkey, Footsie, Dirty Doogz, Crazy Titch, DP, Deltaforce and Ears

Oy, 47 minutes into this Essentials set is the hypest thing I've heard in months. Jesus christ, I wheeled the mp3 twice.
What an amazing set, easily my favourite out of this current batch getting upped.

so you know how someone was saying slackk should get some funding from the british library or arts council or something? i found this on the british library website today...

http://www.bl.uk/collections/sound-archive/wtm.html

The World and Traditional Music Section holds one of the world's largest collections of recordings variously described as traditional, folk or 'world' music. It encompasses most musical traditions of the world with published and unpublished recorded performances dating from the infancy of sound recording to the present day.

...

For further information please contact:

Dr Janet Topp Fargion
Curator, World and Traditional Music
The British Library
Sound Archive
96 Euston Road
London NW1 2DB
United Kingdom

Tel: +44 (0)20 7412 7427
Fax: +44 (0)20 7412 7441
Email: nsa-imc@bl.uk

would this be an appropriate person to contact or not, do you think? i dunno if 'world and traditional' counts or not... grime in pirate radio form is ultimately folk music, isn't it? in that it's not made for commercial reasons...

maybe people think the arts council would be more likely to come up trumps? just putting it out there for further discussion...

i'll write to both. dan you're literate and that, you mind proofreading it for me?
Been meaning to do that for a while.

mistersloane

heavy heavy monster sound
I think both the curator of the folk section and the pop section ( see page 7 of this thread) would be good to just say hi to. I think there's a Contemporary Music Network thing going on with the Arts Council as well, I think Benga got some money for laptops from them?

I can kinda help with advice on this if anyone wants a pint.

holy crap this is good! i have work tomorrow but i can't go to bed.

pepper on 'state your name' (27.40) >>>>

'eat mcs like kipling cupcakes' fuuuuuuuuk off

and yeah, good ideas everyone - who would feature on a grimetapes pirate radio tour? old school or current djs? i'd like to think bossman - not perempay - and slimzee and the like. i'm happy to proofread - you should send links to the fact and metro pieces too.
