probably that. but i think hell always be dubstep to a point. even the semi funky type tunes theyre releasing, its like funky from a dubstep POV.

^Hehehe.
I'm going to be honest and say that I've not been fully convinced by Kode's funky-influenced tunes so far. They're ok but they feel a bit... ponderous, I guess. For he's doing more as a dj and label boss than as a producer at the mo. Happy to have my mind changed by the forthcoming stuff though.

Do not read this.
Have to disagree with you there unfortunately, Black sun is ok, but 2 far gone is literally, 2...far..gone.....lol...(but it is a really good tune though)

black sun sounds so good on a big system. and it's one of those tunes that seems to mix brilliantly with everything, especially tunes with vocals.

can't wait for hyperdub '5'.. in that xlerator interview kode9 says something about hoping it'll be the final nail in the coffin of the 'dubstep' thing..

what bollocks! he says nothing of the sort.

here is what he says for anyone interested in actually not making up a bit of drama, it's all pretty reasonable stuff.

At the risk of also misquoting Mr 9 (can't be bothered to watch it again to check), I believe he says something more like it being the final nail in the coffin of people thinking Hyperdub is a Dubstep label. Though possibly a bit less awkwardly worded.
Not really all that controversial I'm afraid, drama fans.

erm yeah just thought that comment interesting in the context of this thread...and that maybe this hyperdub 5 comp could be the moment 'dubstep' actually did lose the plot.. and was all the better for it! ... if it ever had it, that is (the plot)

Black Sun is one of my favourite tracks this year.
First time I heard it was on the YouTube clip below and despite the poor sound quality of the video I just kept hitting replay.

Yeah that was a great moment. I got him to pull it back. Then he played Move Down Low.
