it's alright. i'm so used to it by now. TBH i didn't make it with her in mind, because i know what she is like when it comes to food: only 3 things allowed on the menu: pizza, lasagna, and pasta. thus the meal was really for the GF and myself, even though i was hoping... but really it was no surprise and not too much of a let down.
she's a really sweet kid in many other ways, and really adorable so it's easy to forgive and be patient. plus there is nothing anyone can do really, getting mad only makes things worse. her mom tells a story of the only time forcing her to eat something when she was small, like 4 or 5, just one spoon full, and she threw up all over the place.
however it was pretty difficult for about 5 minutes there to not

i remember the first time i had butter when i was about 9 or 10 years old. it was pretty fucking weird (what did you say this is? ... congealed... fat??? what and you want me to eat it???), but i put some on my warm chinese style buns and sprinkled some sugar on it, and i ate it didn't i? and got over the weirdness pretty quickly and kinda liked it didn't i?

At that point, there's the "you can't have any salami unless you try this" and you get into the battle of wills thing, which is pointless but sometimes works.
I actually never tried the tantrum thing but I think Luka's right on it. Making them realise how upset you are about how selfish they're being is a really good way of getting through to kids, they ultimately want to please you, or certainly want to please their parent, it's a little different if you're the 'significant other', the power dynamics are different.
I really do think you should just starve the selfish little brat though until it eats what you want
this would be the easiest thing to do, i have to consciously stop myself from doing it. will never lose my temper with this kid if i can help it. god the only thing in my house when i was growing up were temper tantrums... i refuse to repeat those patterns...

@people sitting exams... How did everyone do? Just finished my last one there, thank fuck. Spent the last 2 months doing fuck all except from studying and having a curry on a saturday. Still feel like I've missed x or y marks here and there, which bugs me but fuck it. Now I only have 3 months to wait for marks...

People who just put up a bare list of albums/tracks they are listening to in 'listening threads'. I kind of like the idea of giving a bit of a shpield about why you like it or what it sounds like. I usually take a bit of time to listen to something if that's been done.
