Senator Tammy Duckworth, a Democrat of Illinois, credited a “very, very quick-thinking” staffer with grabbing the electoral college ballots before lawmakers were forced to evacuate the chamber.
“So we have them with us, and we will be able to proceed as long as Mitch McConnell calls us back into session,” Duckworth told CBS News.
That's good obviously - what would have happened if the invaders snatched them, probably they just have to submit the ones that survive or something - but the main thing that jumps out on me here is the senator's name, sounds like someone out of Coronation Street, not Illinois.

And I think theres definitely a "in for a penny, in for a pound" sensibility at play here, at least among the more extreme among them.
That is, in response to the questions of the intelligence of these protesters/invaders. I think many of them don't abide by rationality even in mundane situations, yet alone when they have such a good opportunity to discharge pent up libidinal energy.

They were let in so they could spread COVID throughout the building, congresspeople be dropping like flies in a minute.
