the football one, that team is in a league. i think they do take on challengers but mostly its the league games they show and they include losses.
the basketball ones also include losses but they work differently as its not a leauge its an invitational team that as you say travels the country taking on challengers.
Yeah I did watch the whole of that football video and I gathered that they are in a league. They narrowly beat that other team and next week, no doubt, they could narrowly lose. I suppose that the idea is you start to get to know the players and so you start rooting for them, knowing each of their individual strengths and weaknesses and having personal favs. From that game I noticed the tall guy with white trainers who was lazy but had good feet (can't think why I identified with the one you might describe as a luxury player) and that kind of individual interest is precisely the sort of thing they need. I would have thought though that the most important thing for winning fans to the channel was decent commentary, which makes this team surprising in that the guy speaking was.... well, you know, nothing against the guy, but he wasn't exactly stunningly witty. If that is the standard to beat then maybe there is a potential vacancy for someone who has a velvet smooth voice, the ability to think on their feet and a penetrative understanding of the game which they can pour out like molten silver to draw in the novices and convey the finer points to the initiates. Or failing that, someone, a bit funnier at least. Also they should get some more individuals, one guy with bright pink boots, another with hair like Valderama... perhaps a real fucking porker with feet like JJ Okocha... what I'm saying is that someone who really set about it in the right way could create a really perfect team to dominate youtube.
But yeah, that whole model is quite different from "the professor" going to a (supposedly) random court, having a war of words with some guy and then beating him like a red-headed stepchild, doing silly stuff like tricking the guy so he ends up facing the other way and then bouncing the ball off his unprotected back... properly taking the piss. I'm asking, does he ever come up against one of the (presumably) thousands of players who are or were on the fringes of an NBA team and against whom that kind of stuff would be impossible? And if he gets dicked on does that make its way to youtube?
