a WIsconsin farm boy who, with a large helping of grit, a can-do-attitude, and a whole lotta talent made it to the bright lights of New York and SUCCESS spelled in capital letters. A recently aquired metropolitan polish not managing to conceal his salt of the earth nature, heartland morals and an instinctive sympathy with the little guy. this is the story of suspended reason.
"When the Twin Towers suddenly reappear in the Badlands of South Dakota twenty years after their fall, nobody can explain their return. To the hundreds, then thousands, then tens of thousands drawn to the American Stonehenge including Parker and Zema, siblings on their way from L.A. to visit their mother in Michigan the Towers seem to sing, even as everybody hears a different song. A rumor overtakes the throng that someone can be seen in the high windows of the southern structure.
Kinda reminds me of the houses in Eden et Apres... are you a fan of ARG's films?

the minneapolis / twin cities area used to produce a lot of people like that. it's a hard to describe archetype but one i always have in the back of my head. joel from mystery science theater comes to mind. also mike from the same show. the guys in husker du seem like they'd fit as well. dick cavett would be another general example, although he was from nebraska. all paste peope i guess.a WIsconsin farm boy who, with a large helping of grit, a can-do-attitude, and a whole lotta talent made it to the bright lights of New York and SUCCESS spelled in capital letters. Yeah... as mentioned in the first post. Interesting novelist but for me I enjoy his films more. Not just Marienbad in which he collaborated with Resnais, but the films he directed himself which gave him free rein to explore his obsessions (naked ladies, repetition and weird circular plots in which what has happened and has not is never clear). Albeit without Resnais' technical expertise I guess.

I really like La Belle Captive, Gradiva, Glissements Progressifs... in fact they are all at least interesting.I'll have to check out! My friend didn't like Marienbad at all, so I'd written it off, but I'll have to check it out. Great to know
