You definitely did post something laughable somewhere I remember. But this discussion is getting pointless now, think I'll leave it there. Time for bed

Prynne was a ridiculously thorough researcher - in his correspondence with Charles Olson, Olson asked him about shipping records as research for his Maximus poems and he responded with this:

Gus feels threatened. it's a normal reaction. mega-minds aren't supposed to exist. we ll went through life bluffing and it never caused us any problems. its easy to cruise through life. everyone else is bluffing. then you come up against the prynne wall and hit your head against it and it doesnt break. you fall down dazed, confused and angry.

As you said very incisively on here once, autism is a super power because you can't get bored.
there's an autism related term, hyperfocus, which means you can lock into one activity for long periods, but that doesn't mean you cannot get bored. on the contrary

the annoying thing about discovering prynne is that you find out you werent as clever as you thought you were. but thats also quite exciting too

"Video recording of a brief appearance by Prynne on the television show Celebrity Masterchef UK (2013), Series 8 Episode 14, which aired on BBC One on Thursday 29 August 2013 at 8 pm GMT... Prynne may be glimpsed eating a woodpigeon salad made by Les Dennis and by Shane from Boyzone]."

After reading some articles about Prynne last night I was browsing a second hand bookstore today and there was the yellow brick, as if by Fate.

But I was going to the V&A. A brick would have weighed me down. I bought a pocketable sized Complete Poetry of Pope instead.

But a message was being sent, was it not?

Also, in relation to the Prynne article – it mentions a book Prynne admired by Thomas Nagel, which I had a look at it, it was a bit brainy for me. But then at random I took a textbook of American Intellectual Thought to the bog and read a thing by Reinhold Neibuhr which touched on essentially the same theme as this Nagel book.

Coincidence?

Message?

I count 33 poetry pamphlets/books released since the last collected Poems. I guess the fact that he's still so productive is why he's putting off releasing a second collected volume. If he lives another 10 years (not inconceivable) it might have to go to three collecteds at this rate. I hope they get the second volume out soon whatever the case, I haven't read any of the late stuff
