Nice one on the Logan interview. Always interesting to hear his throughts on the progress of the scene and what's gonna be happening in the future. Eloquent guy.

I know there're a fair few sceptics around here but I support his idea of free distribution of mix cds etc. It just makes sense given the level of piracy going on already. I'm constantly suprised that there isn't a digital grime downloads site online yet, but we'll see what happens in 2007...

really good interview. a lot of notable points as well. the stuff about labels and the indie market at the moment was pretty spot on i would say ("That was the problem with Wiley, no-one knew how to deal with him, because we've had a whole generation of record labels now who have not really cultivated artists. I think in general over here A&Rs don't really know how to build up artists.") i dunno about the stuff about the kano album though - i think part of the problem was that the kano LP just tried to be all things to all people and didnt really do justice to what kano is really good at. lets hope 2007 is a good year for grime though, theres a lot of major albums coming out - hopefully they will all be 'proper grime' and give the scene something to aim towards.

anyone else really feeling the lady sov album?

got the new jammer mix cd and i really like it. its probably my third favourite mix cd of the year after the first neckle camp cd and kronik's. i know its cliche to say now but i do still wish there were more grime beats on it though and not so many hip hop ones. still, those arent bad by any means. jammer and footsie sound great over the rick ross hustlin beat.

Kano feat Vybz Cartel 7" going for 99p in Virgin Megastore, Piccadilly (i.e. the one which was Tower before). In the Urban/Hip Hop section between basement and ground floor.

Check Scoobe's myspace. He's on fire, new beats and bars every week. There's a new track he's done with a Polish MC - now if that's not representing London's real underground I don't know what is.

All these grindie collabos will stick the nail in the coffin for grime. No, it aint a 'big look'. Really, who's doing it nowadays except O.T. crew? Too much pandering to what they think will make them money nowadays, making for some shit music.

i saw some headline in one of those rubbish free papers on the tube to the effect of "arctic monkeys: we want to work with dizzee".

well apparently hes worked with joss stone and now lilly allen on the new album so a track with the arctic monkeys wouldnt be out the question. i cant imagine them actually doing it though or how it would come out. maybe something like when KRS One did a track with REM. most rock-rap collabos are crap though arent they?

sorry if this was already mentioned, but this was in my mailbox this morning

Forget Roll Deep, Dizzee, or Piff City.

So Solid are back on grime.

They have a new mixtape dropping on 27th Jan 2007.
"We are vets" is going to blow up the scene and leave Boy better know thinking Boy Better Go.

COP DAT!
i wonder how that will go.

cant wait. just hope they actually do make it a grime mixtape (with good garage speed beats), not a hip hop one, cos the recent stuff from face and asher d has been pretty dire.

i have a grime mix CD question - why dont MCs do any freestyles or reworks of dancehall beats? why only hip hop ones? dont know how good they would come out but it doesnt make sense that they only give big hip hop beats the once over in light of the number of MCs that say 'yeah dancehall is incredibly important as an influence'

It is a mystery isn't it? There is a Roll Deep remix over Scoobay on one of the singles which is really good. I'd rather hear more of that than another freestyle over a Dipset track.

GnR2 proper grime? Don't make me laugh. It's sub-par.

can you shut the fuck up?

seriously?

you are a fucking clown.

GnR2 is one of the top 10 grime releases of the year without question...

if you can't afford 6 pounds to buy a CD at least have the self respect to keep your mouth shut about it...

word, seems like this would be way more common than it is. anyone know of anything like this floating around?

dizzee mixes in "In her Heart" by Capleton when he performs sometimes and does "stand up tall" over it...

actually there is a Sub Low remix of the same song...

i guess b/c it's the biggest dancehall song of the last few years to be at grime tempo...
