    House 09!

Oh god, I can't even imagine putting something like that together, certainly not for singles. My 2009 best-of was hard enough!

    House 09!

At least he found something else to go on about than ke-razy late-night drug-induced paranoia (see http://www.discogs.com/Jamie-Jones-911/release/1419993, http://www.discogs.com/Jamie-Jones-Panic/master/15232 and http://www.discogs.com/Jamie-Jones-Still-Here-EP/release/1143586). But no, I...

    Dubstep

hey guys, thanks for the nod. just a quick note to other readers on the thread, despite it being mentioned on the dubstep thread is no way is it a "dubstep mix." about 1/3 of it is, the rest runs through ambient, techno, folk & metal. the collision of styles is on purpose, as it was intended...

Paying for this forum...it's cough up time!

$10! Matt, I hope this is getting you closer to no out-of-pocket expenses. This grassroots subscription thing is giving me warm fuzzies.

Berlin - whither should I go?

Also, Staalplaat recently relocated from Mitte to Neukölln, and they are hosting quite a lot of experimental performances there. I haven't been to one yet, but the shop is great, and there's a really nice big room in back where they do the performances. http://staalplaat.wordpress.com/

Berlin - whither should I go?

Yeah, but remember that Sunday is afterparty day for many in Berlin, so there tend to be a lot of daytime events pretty much all around. I haven't been up to this particular party yet but I've been to Horst a few times -- it's fine, a smallish club with a couple of rooms and a patio. I've never...

    polyrhythms

Used to hate them, then love them, now kind of hate them again. I'm being facetious, kind of -- but the MOR, post-mnml "deep house" of the moment is absolutely awash in superfluous bongos, and it's really trying my patience.

Berlin - whither should I go?

Also, I just saw a poster for Ramadanman, Gemmy and Guido at the Rathaus Neukölln U-Bahn, but I forget where/when the show is. Is that at the same space?

Berlin - whither should I go?

What's that Raum 18 space like? I see they had Vex'd and Timeblind a few weeks back, unfortunately I was out of town. It's right down in my hood though, so I definitely want to check it out. Dubstep in Neukölln, sounds perfect to me.

    Campaign For Real DJ's

I had to do this once at a gig, actually, when one of the needles broke, and the promoter ran home to get another one. (Ahem.) Flipping a record takes longer than you might think!

    Dubstep

Sorry, I just don't get this. As for "Klinik" that's one of my favorite Scuba tracks yet. (But given my techno propensities, that's probably not so surprising to hear.)

    Dubstep

Man, the Substance party @ Berghain on Friday night was fantastic. Not entirely sure who I saw (and I was upstairs getting Perlonized for much of the night), but earlyish on was clearly Shackleton sounding very, very good, and much more forceful than I expected. Later I caught a DJ that I'm...

    Soundhack/ MMM

Also, their live sets are insane -- I saw them play probably five years ago, and it's still one of my favorite live sets ever. Lots of live loop-cutting and tweaking, 4/4 loops constantly shifting stresses and cadences. Chaotic but funky as fuck.

    Soundhack/ MMM

Don't miss the Soundtream stuff either -- much more of a soul/disco vibe, but similar cut-up tactics. I really like their remixes for Ricardo Villalobos's "Easy Lee" and for Rhythm & Sound as well....

    Reynolds hardcore continuum event

re: the jungle "transcription," congratulations, you've written the dead-tree equivalent of a MIDI file. and so? you say "-i actually like the production values quite a bit-" -- if that were really true, wouldn't you realize that "production values" ARE *musical* qualities in and of themselves...

    Dubstep

that zomby vs kid cudi title (haven't heard it) reminds me of something.... has anyone else noticed the melodic similarity between cudi's "day & nite" and benga & coki's "night"??? or am i imagining it?

Man, someone tell me about Devotional Dubz. This "Lady Dub" is fucking mindblowing, both sides.

    wonky

Ha, good question! Just "work music" as in "shit I need to write about to get paid." The Vex'd mix is actually great for working to -- except for all those "holy shit!" jump-out-of-your-chair moments that kinda break your concentration... :)

jamie vex'd mix is incredible. i listened to it three times through and was sad when i had to take it off to put on "work" music.
