    forward 2 leak (grime/blogs)

Dizzee's first album didn't get bootlegged. The cd that was bootlegged contained about 2 tracks that actually made the album in the end. It did get leaked, as with all albums, at the point that it was sent out to the media for review 1 month before it's release. And by then Dizzee had been...

    kardianal/dirty south pow version

I don't like any of these. Not for some snobby purist reasoning. They just don't sound all that good to me.

So who on this board is in the states or canada?

Can everyone please show my mix cd to everyone who is willing to hear it. I put it together to be a showcase of the full spectrum of influences and sounds of the scene, so hopefully there will be something on there for everyone. It's really encouraging to see that after the initial negative...

Jammer didn't make that. Wiley made it.

    Free Grime CD

Cut it into tracks and then upload each track separately. And not to nitpick, but the Down remix came out orginally in 1999 and isn't really grime.

NME or whoever naming him Man of the year was the most pathetic thing I've read in a long while.

Lady Sovereign - the Grime test

I don't think I said she wasn't grime. People are judged on their achievements, and she is yet to prove herself. If she goes on to sell units or make music that I like then it's all good.

new blog: grime/dubstep/small american cities (bandwagon bandwagon)

I liked the most recent entry. It's nice to see the things which set grime apart from underground garage, dnb, hip hop and dancehall get noticed. The live sets are ridiculously energetic.

    Pitchfork reviews Run the Road

Most people in grime don't roll with the sort of people So Solid associated themself with, and they were not in as powerful enough of a position in the music industry for those events and relations to be ignored, as it is in America with Hip Hop.

    Pitchfork reviews Run the Road

That was the first publicised event. there had been many more previously. And there was a reason people kept going to So Solid related events with guns looking for certain people.

Lady Sovereign - the Grime test

In terms of the "she's a girl" angle. Look at No Lay. Everyone I speak to gives her a great deal of respect. I think however that Sovereign being not only a woman, but a very young looking woman makes it even easier for acts who are working the underground route to dismiss her. But that isn't...

    Pitchfork reviews Run the Road

If you think that is ALL So Solid have done, then you are very naieve. Do you think that the three members of their crew who are currently either convicted or on remand for VERY serious violent crimes have done nothing to warrant it? The discussion regarding the lifestyle of young kids in...

    Pitchfork reviews Run the Road

If you actually knew some of these people you'd understand why they see it as the easy way out. it is a lifestyle they understand, whereas the lifestyle you or I may take for granted in suburbia is alien to them.

    Pitchfork reviews Run the Road

I definitely agree. I was discussing it today with a leading journalist in the grime scene and hopefully it might actually see print in the future.
