This the kind of thing you mean DQ?

Maicon produced a moment of pure Brazilian magic to set the five-time champions on their way to victory in their opening game against North Korea in Johannesburg.
If England won 'cause of that goal I'd think they'd been lucky - second one was good though.

Thought that game (Brazil DPRK) was really good to watch. Koreans played really well with alot of composure. I guess you can be fearless if you're not aware of all the hype around Brazil. Though fuck knows if that's just my fantasy idea about North Koreans etc etc. I still say it's not been boring at all, this tournament. Hope NK go through after that display.

They probably played so well cos they knew what's at stake for them if they don't do well.
I wonder if the North Korean media reports accurately on their results?

I don't think that they'll be tortured if they lose against Brazil hahah. Fucksake. I mean they're a scummy regime but that's a bit far-fetched.

I mean, their on-form striker (who was bubbling at the national anthem) lives and plays in Japan and had to jump through beauraucratic hoops to get himself onto the team - that doesn't sound like the actions of someone who desperately fears and hates his (footballing) country...

To be fair, the North Korean manager did look very relived when they nabbed that goal.

wheres the love for my kiwi brothers you miserable bastards?

if they're going to play on the same day as themighty Koreans, you can't expect much.

But it was a good result. I'm a bit worried about the conequences for NZ rugby, though - it'd be a shame if football became the no. 1 sport there. Similarly to Wales, but there's no danger there, as they're shocking at football.

bravo the All-Whites!

cracking to get that that late against a decent team, speaks well of their character i suppose (though i didn't see the match).

happy, Luka?

i take it those kiwis that have a sense of the world (as opposed to the ones that are parochial num nuts) are pleased that NZ is taking part in a sport that is far more popular (and plain better; w apologies to rugby fans on the board) than either rugby code?

i'll let you return the favour by lauding the well-organised Ghana (i'm not a fan but my mate is)

out to the North Koreans, i'm w D_Q and Grizzleb, if the regime figurehead claims he is an expert in animal husbandry, controlling the weather, and being very tall, then he would be using anything from last night's game regardless.

fuck that, it's all about the expats huddling around TVs in the South, thinking on previously closed-off possibilities, etc, etc.

i'd have assumed the N Koreans were not going to broadcast, or simulate it so Brazil got a tonking, but didn't it say in the Guardian or somewhere they had in fact nicked a live feed from somewhere (French broadcaster, maybe), and it was going out? i dunno.

considering i read a piece the other day about uni students (it was agricultural science or engineering in the specific piece IIRC) there who of course have no internet, so rely on an intranet for technical information, i was surprised to hear it was even going out. we'll probably never know, as Clive T said last night.

tyldesley will clearly never know/care, as there is no obvious connection with barcelona 1999.

thank you for pointing that out. i am aware my bitter Manc reputation precedes me, so i don't want to publicly call him out on his United love-in as it looks so biased. but he just is, isn't he?

he actually likes both the big northwest two, although given Liverpool have generally been on Channel 5 Thursday nights of late he hasn't had chance to say much about them recently...

Hahaha, football has always been for scrawny little types. I don't think there's much demographic spillage between guys (and girls *shudder*) who play the different sports.
