this thing that our boy richard seymore puts his finger on, the thing about apocalyptic desire, is on the money i think. really felt it around the brexit vote, wanting everything to burn down. maybe there is something innate in human beings which wants to do this, a reset, wiping the slate clean, chucking out the old structure. it's something that apocalypse films play to. is that not the thing that we all get out of watching night of the living dead and so on, the wiping away of the old order, the sudden reversal of how things work. if the world isn't working for you and you are hemmed in by reality of course you want to burn it down.
