Love this sort of mystical, visionary stuff - was reading loads of St John of the Cross, Fray Luis de León and Saint Teresa of Avila over the last year. They're full of that sort of paradoxical negation. The linguistic intricacies that make them so amazing (maybe the highpoint of the Spanish poetic tradition) tend to get lost in English translations though.The intricacies of word play in this thread was brought to mind tonight as I read this about Julian of Norwich.
