@Corpsey hes got an Oasis tribute in his new one look. Morning wood, way too hard in the early morning

(47)

That’s the story morning glory
play the card that guards the door,
way too hard in early warning
every day but more and more.
And funnily enough this Oasis song contains the classic couplet - "all your dreams are made/when you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade"

I think I've just fallen foul to the, previously unrealised, fake J. H. Prynne book market

I ordered Or Scissel on eBay and received it today. Imagine my surprise, and confusion, when I opened what is, according to the cover blurb, the "most recent experiment with words on the page" and was confronted with a frontispiece that declares "iPhone 7 for Seniors - A simplified iPhone 7/7 Plus manual for Beginners" by "James C. Elliot" and a table of contents that, again according to the back cover, demonstrates "the possibilities of lyrical transformation", with section titles such as "Use the telephoto lens to zoom in", "Do not use the digital zoom", and "Don't shoot without the Grid".

That's classic you should send it on to:

I really like this one and I've been making a bit of headway into what it could be about using the dictionary. Still very confusing though, anyone got any ideas?

So far, I think it's at least partly about the criminal exploitation of Alaskan fishing territories by corporations and wealthy nations. And also, more generally about how inefficient capitalist exchange is, the obstruction of a healthy flow.

This is the most influential essay written about Prynne btw
Most opinions you hear people voice have been stolen from it
Reading this now, really good so far. Brass definitely seems to be a big turning point in his work after the more philosophical early stuff. I like "lacerating whimsicalities" as a description of it.

What blows me away is how every single book is so different from the last and how he's managed to sustain that shape shifting for so long while being so prolific. I think, apart from having a galaxy brain, it's a lot to do with how he's had a steady academic post and kept it real with regards to publishing, playing the long game, so by the end of his life/career we're gonna have these 3 or 4 big slabs of his collected works to pore over forever. What a Don.
