rich, stop trying to find logic! in his business life, he filed frivolous lawsuits all the time as a way to scare people, make them settle, etc. that's all he knows, and he's in charge, so...

But it feels to me that the Trump family and a few believers have spent so long concocting their own reality that when it finally crashes into a bigger reality they don't have any alternative tactics left.

It's not so much I'm trying to find logic, more I'm trying to reassure myself that they have nothing more than frivolous law suits... that the orange dragon has been slain in other words.
On Sky they were discussing this kind of thing and the consensus of opinion seemed to be that they would find it a lot harder to bully a whole nation this way than they have a local court in the past. Which was a relief.

Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
This is wonderful:

President Donald Trump's aides had to explain to him that his call to stop ballot counting would actually ensure he lost the election, according to multiple reports. The Trump campaign has filed lawsuits in multiple states to stop their vote counts, and Trump has claimed electoral fraud without giving evidence. He also tweeted Thursday: "STOP THE COUNT!"New York magazine's Olivia Nuzzi said she learned of a phone call Thursday in which Trump said he "assumed people knew that by 'stop the count' he didn't mean he wanted to stop the count."

One the (many) problems with Trumpers is that they always claim he didn't mean what he said, but instead that he meant something less insane that would like him to have said. Seems that there might actually be some truth in that idea.

Pleased to hear that Bannon's beheading comments had consequences
On Friday, a prominent lawyer who was defending Mr. Bannon against fraud charges in federal court in Manhattan abruptly moved to drop him as a client, one person familiar with matter said.
“Mr. Bannon is in the process of retaining new counsel,” the lawyer, William A. Burck, said in a brief letter to the court, giving no explanation.
Ironic if he went to jail as a direct result of that.
As a matter of interest how has a guy who is under indictment and facing twenty years in jail been able to run around the world giving interviews about the election, finding laptops and generally being a cunt?

not sure I'd call him nutty, but definitely a wheeling-and-dealing grifter. wily and full of hubris, like Roger stone, in getting trump focused on what would rile the base in the 2016 election.

He was in an unusual position in that his greatest triumph was arranging the election of a man who fired him soon afterwards.

corona was probably going to do trump in this time regardless, but his 2020 campaign was missing a ruthless Bannon/Stone figure. jared is an empty suit, absolutely not a campaign mastermind. the best they could do this year was Rudy G., which is embarassing.

It's interesting how far Bannon's fallen. Guess he was just another nutty grifter after all.
he's certainly a grifter but not a pure grifter like Trump, or a guy like Roger Stone

he's a true believer who doesn't let his belief get in the way of his grift bc, yunno, he has basically no scruples

but I'm pretty sure he believes in all that blut und boden anti-modern clash of civilizations bullshit he pushes

his career has basically between one long attempt to make belief into his grift - find what you love and make into a job (grift), as they say

I didn't think of him as nutty at first, but I do now. He went from working in the White House, preaching "Economic Nationalism" at Oxford Union and fairly perceptive interviews on major news networks to ranting about heads on pikes on some Limbaugh-esque show/podcast in what appears to be someone's living room whilst looking like he sleeps in his clothes and lives on beer and crisps.

maybe you're right, I haven't paid attention to him since he got booted from the White House.

yeah, the same guy who was busted while vacationing on a luxury yacht with its Chinese billionaire owner
you mean the Chinese billionaire who fled China after his rabbi in the CCP was taken down and sentenced to life in prison in an intraparty power struggle?
