The bit you've put in bold relates to what I think might be Trump's greatest skill: knowing exactly how far he can push his luck and take the piss without actually ending up in prison or dead.

in general, he'll rail against something for weeks and then suddenly you'll never hear him mention it again. he has a sense of when he's got the most out of a situation and then just moves on to the next issue/crisis. because he has no core values, he's never really invested in anything.

Biden’s appointments are drawn almost exclusively from the circles of the Democratic Party and corporate elite, those responsible for the massive social inequality, trade deals, de-industrialization, militarized police, world’s largest prison system, austerity programs that abolished social programs such as welfare, the revived Cold War with Russia, wholesale government surveillance, endless wars in the Middle East and the disenfranchisement and impoverishment of the working class.

Fucking US has sleepwalked right into Socialism just as Trump warned everyone. Get used to not owning property, being forced to change gender, and speaking Chinese bitches!
Honestly I wish Biden actually was quite a lot closer to doing that than where he actually is on the political spectrum to be honest.

What is it with people who make a living by ranting about how violent and corrupt America is bending over backwards to defend Russia, as if it were neither of those things?

Oh by the way, I haven't mentioned the latest (and, I was gonna say, surely last but probably it won't be) of the insanely desperate straws that the Trump voters are frantically clutching huge handfuls of, but it is quite funny so it probably should go in this thread.
Since Biden was projected enough states to be President-Elect on Nov the 9th or whatever it was - in the same way as Trump was four years ago when he happily claimed it - Trump's supporters have continually moved the goalposts as to how an election is won. They first said "The media doesn't choose the president" which is technically true I guess, but as the media was just reporting on how the people had voted it was definitely splitting hairs.
Anyway, Trump and his allies refused to accept the media pointing out which states had won, then they refused to accept the states announcing the official wins... as we know the states all selected their electors and of course a majority was selected for Biden - but Trumpletons said that that selection didn't matter until they were certified (and they kept trying to stop that and trying strange wheezes such as saying that actually the legislature could appoint their own and cancel the ones the people voted for), then they were all certified and the Trumpoids said "but it doesn't matter until they cast their votes in congress, what about alternative voters, who will vote for the Donald instead?" but obviously congress ignored the "alternative electors" (who were, let's face it, just a load of mad people saying that them writing down Trump on a piece of paper somewhere was as valid as the official vote for Biden that was written down by the actual voters in an official ceremony in the state parliament according to the votes of the people) and so the total number of votes cast by state electors was 306 to 234 - exactly as the media said when they called it two months ago. But it's still not enough for Trumplets - on 6th January the Vice President opens the envelope with all the cast votes in it and reads the total to the house and apparently people can object to each one, but as it requires a majority in both houses to throw any votes out it's not gonna happen (although that does seem to imply that if one party had a majority in both bits of parliament they could in fact throw out all the votes against their guy, which surely can't be right even if it doesn't matter this time)... but the current argument doing the rounds is that VP Pence can simply choose which of the votes in the envelope to count.

Just to make that clear, the argument is that the VP has the right to choose which states' votes to count when he reads this. Basically what they're saying is that, the election is not really that important in selecting the next president, it's entirely down to the VP; well, sure he can just go along with the votes of the people if he feels like it (and this has happened every time previously), but if he chooses not to he can. In fact they are saying that it is his patriotic duty to reject all of the swing states that BIden won cos MAGA thinks they're dodgy (basically on a gut feeling cos there is no evidence and all of the court cases have been thrown out).
Obviously the VP's role here is entirely ceremonial and just involves opening an envelope and reading what is said. Everyone knows that the VP does not really have the right to pick the next president cos that would obviously be one of the craziest things that anyone has thought all the way through the whole of this crazy election. But Texas Representative Louie Gohmert apparently does believe it and he's going to court to argue that this is the VP's right, in fact, the court case goes further than that, in his plea he actually admitted that he asked Pence to do this and Pence told him to get to fuck, so the court case has two elements; first to make the slight change that the president is no longer selected by the votes in the election but simply by the VP who chooses which of those votes actually matter, and second, the case seeks to compel Pence to throw out all the swing states...
To me it's hilarious that this case has been brought by an adult, and one who in fact used to be a judge. And crazier still is that countless people believe it and are crossing their fingers (and writing letters demanding) that Pence will do the right thing. I love it!

Louie Gohmert is the biggest jackass in Congress, which is saying a lot.

The VP's role on January 6 is just like the actor who reads the winner for Best Picture at the Academy Awards: they don't have any part of selecting the winner, they just open the envelope and read the name of the pre-determined winner. I suppose Pence could pull a "La La Land", but that too would be immediately annulled.

Pence must hate his life right now. He knows the truth, but has also spent the past four-plus years as Trump's biggest groveling bootlicker. Would be great if he just called in sick that day: "Hi, Mitch? I've got you on a conference call with Nancy, wanted to let you guys know I'm feeling a little under the weather, not going to make it into the Capitol Building today. Mother's making me some tea, probably just something I ate last night, let me know if anything comes up, thanks."

People don't seem to have too high an opinion of this guy Gohmert that's for sure... former judge I believe astoundingly.
Anyway, Pence does at least seem to have (traitorously!) pointed out that he's not allowed to just pick a different winner, that's why they're doing this court case, at first it was being reported that it was a "friendly case" just to confirm his powers, but it emerged that they know he is not gonna try this bullshit and it is intended to compel him.
What absolutely blows my mind is that a large number Trumpfuckers actually seem to truly believe that in every election the VP has the choice of either going along with the vote, or rejecting it and just picking a different candidate. In other words, they think that the election is completely meaningless and the only person who has any say in deciding the election is the current VP. I mean, he may decide to select the people's choice and thus give the illusion that there was some reason for doing the election, but as ultimately he decides whether or not to do it, it is merely illusion.
For me, anyone who really thinks that that is how is works is a total fucking moron, anyone who understands that it's not like that but wants the court case to change the rules so that it is the case, is a fascist begging for a dictatorship.

So Gohmert case lacked standing and was thrown out - he responded with predictably mature stoicism by demanding that everyone riots and sets fire to the country.

all of that is comedy, no one cares what he says. more worrying is trump encouraging protesters to come to Washington on Tuesday, actually said "be there, will be wild".

Well it all whips 'em up into a frenzy. Also Wood is saying that the CIA is totally corrupt and JFK was just about to sign an order to defund it when he was murdered, it was on his desk ready to go - now Trump has found it (I guess no-one cleared the desk in the last fifty odd years) and intends to finally get rid of the evil CIA.
