adding to the above i spent a couple of memorable weeks in the flat of a girl i met at a dinner in beirut, coz she mentioned she was living in her uncle's massive flat by herself and i had nowhere to stay, and it was this huge town center thing covered in dust, sitting on the floor of this totally unfurnished living room on the tenth floor of a tower looking out onto city lights. weird and dislocated time.

i realize that that last post makes it sound like a romantic engagement, it wasn't at all, it's weird how normal doing stuff like that felt at the time

like when you go round someone's mums house and it feels absolutely like someone's mum's house. like when i go round biscuit's mum's house for example.
But it's not exactly comforting there is it? I can't go there, it's too busy for one thing and she's given up, let herself go. Sad really... I think it was her kids, broke her heart.

I will not summarize the events leading up to it or the fallout from it but suffice it to say Crumps has suicide-bombed the Dimes Square scene, sending craven scenesters running for cover and possibly ending the entire scene.
strangely enough it was an explosion not happing at one particular moment but rather stretched in temporality, alike to the twin peak season 3 atomic bomb

that guy got mad at me once for tweeting that his startup was fake. jokes on him, i've never been so into evola that they wrote an article focused primarily on the premise that i'm racist.

i find listening to anna khaciyan or however you spell quite calming. especially when dasha and annoying guests are taken out of the picture. there's something soothing about someone explaining the world with clarity. half of the podcast / youtube thing is about that i think. the affective power of it, making order out of the fragmentary internet chaos.

There's a crazy bit where he talks about his parents having him kidnapped by one of those transporter services and taken to one of those bad kid bootcamps in the middle of nowhere. Apparently the industry's been decimated now because they've been hit with so many lawsuits over abuse and whatnot that went on.

and you’re really good at accents and no-one recognises that as a legitimate facet or talent any more either as a coping mechanism in the face of the human condition or that your old man was F Gump

"Dae, a new design shop and café that opened in Carroll Gardens this summer, serves photogenic checkerboard butter on milk bread"

"Its meticulously curated space has a no-laptop policy, so that people can concentrate on their misugaru ice cream served in a silver goblet."

But over the past two months, its problem has not been unsanctioned laptop users — it’s been hordes of influencers armed with tripods. The situation has gotten so bad that Dae had to take the drastic step of banning people from taking photos and videos inside the shop entirely (with the exception of “quick snaps” at one’s own table). As it posted in an Instagram Story earlier this week: “We love food and drink photos (clearly) … but the TikToks and Instagram photoshoots have gotten a bit out of control for us.”

A Brooklyn Café That Said No More Influencers

( after they got all the publicity they needed from said "influencers" )

@shakahislop, @sus : what the fuck is "photogenic checkerboard butter"?

Connected to the Dimescore/Austerbane aesthetic mentioned above tho I think—look at this Instagram account
obviously one of the things that is going on in nyc / america is the relentless experimentation (that's what that restaurant looks like to me). the lack of interest in tradition or the way things should be really opens everything up to doing all kinds of bullshit (and good shit). one of the reasons there's all these things that look pretentious like that restaurant does.

all the money sloshing about helps as well
