Christine - One Saturday Night

ROCK ON OBSERVER STYLE ( at 2:55 the echo rules )

The LAYDEES choice:

Gregory Isaacs - Rock On Murder Observation Style

I used to work at a place where we used to have a blog ( actually was just tumblr ) documenting what we played while arguing with customers and whenever we posted a Gregory tune our followers would multiply like a hundredfold and when you looked at their profiles they were all women of a "certain age"
Ladies love the Cool Ruler. Bet those profiles could tell some tales

I used to have to counsel a coma survivor

he always used to insist I stick the Negrea Love Dub LP on because he loved the Linval Thompson do-over dub of The Cool Ruler's do-over of the George McCrae tune

Linval Thompson - Rock Me In Dub

Gregory Isaacs - Party In The Slum / dub

Mikey Dread - Warriror Stylee (Rebel Mix Lyrics) (1981 Fashion)

Horns of Jericho! Warrior Stylee!

( edit: Mikey Dread is a bit of a dick, maybe he should have been locked up if you ever paid attention to his "schoolgirl" lyrics on the Lee Perry Megaton Dub volume one, and there is an old "roots rock reggae' documentary series where he states it is every Jamaican man's mission to impregnate any "African Queen" he should happen across )

^ this is a tune though, and he is adept at chatting shit

edit: is this the moment when when I initiate the NONCE REGGAE thread? i.e.,

lee perry w/ Mikey Dread - Schoolgirl Dub

^ for demonstration purposes only, not an endoresment! ^ and certainly not part of this rum flow state - I used to do a lot of amphetamine sulphate and Megaton Dub Volume One was my go to lie on the couch and come down album but this was the last track and I had to stagger over to the turntable and remove it quick because the lyrics are just wrong

I've posted this before in a tune of the day thread but "so nice have to play it twice"

Joyella Blade - Cairo / dub

wage slave anthem, fuck the boss

lovely synths

this was the standout track on this budget CD, was a bit pissed off that the "extended mix" only exists on this CD, but I bought the 7 inch single within seconds of hearing this tune, and when I win the lottery and have a red light basement with ceramic topped tables for easy chopping and a funktion one sound system and a strobe light and dry ice machine then I'll invite you lot for a night of debauchery and after i've "warmed up" in the afternoon with my selection of "deep cuts" which may include this tune then I'll hand over to a real DJ while I pass out

youtube doesn't have some of the tunes that I could play in my imaginary debauched red light low ceiling basement

and one of the tunes youtube can't provide is the Paul "Groucho" Smykle 12 inch extended mix of The Cool Ruler's not a drug anthem "Night Nurse"

so

and

this has nothing to do with drugs!

we'll have to make do with the B side to a single I might own ( except I don't, see the edit , my 7 inch dub version is better )

Gregory Isaacs - Night Nurse ( Dub )

I have to stress that the "remedy" is nothing to do with drugs!

/s. *

* it is totally a song about hard drugs!

lovely one finger synth and bleeps

( edit: this isn't the b side that I own, seriously the vinyl versions of Night Nurse that I own piss all over this, but youtube can't deliver and I'll have to win the lottery to prove my point because then I might invite some of the regulars to a heart attack / aneurysm inducing debauch )

but yeah, this is the point I may pass out IRL, CHAPTER THREE "soon come"

Interns - Nothing Is Impossible. / Hardy Boys - Version

They say i won't get nowhere
So they say
That’s what they say
They say that I won’t reach my goals
So they say
That’s what they say
Now they’re saying
My mission is impossible
Yes they’re saying that I just can’t make it

But I know they’re wrong
Yes they’re wrong
My missions are possible

fuck MGT, cunts set you and me up to fail so they can look good, yet we still succeed, wankers
