A question to ask is whether we want discussion for the sake of discussion or whether we actually have things to discuss. Sometimes one can lead to the other, but I think we can usually tell when we're trying to force the issue and are just posting for the sake of it. I fall into it sometimes posting news or new music I'm not actually arsed about.

If it wasn't there, I wouldnt be tempted to post boring stupid stuff in it and read other people's boring stupid stuff. If there was a way of muting the entire politics forum so it didn't appear on the main page at all, I'd do it. Out of sight, out of mind.
If you actually want this I can write the code. It's just a matter of filtering out HTML; with a short script added to an AdBlock or TamperMonkey type script app, it could be done, 15-20 min I imagine.

I only care about posts that: teach me new things, expand my perspective, help me grow as a writer, or make me laugh with my mates. But I appreciate that these are not universal priorities.

I always enjoyed the concept-building, word&worldbuilding aspect. DEMATERIALISATION. THE EXQUISITE SCIENCE. CARTOON PHYSICS. Those are the kinds of things that drew me in and kept me here.

Maybe we should do one of the group things again. Everyone read a specific chapter from A Thousand Plateaus or listen to an album or something. @dilbert1 did try get something like that going re: Marcuse in the Hegel thread but we collectively chickened out.

If you use Arc Browser, you can delete elements from the webpage you are viewing (delete from your personal browser view, that is). I just testing this and deleted the events thread category, and it worked.

I think the music forum's probably a lost cause, considering how old we all are now, but there could be a future in the lit threads.

ja, so here we have benny bunter, legendary dissensus grandpa, thinking he is cool underground raver from berlin because liking tech house garbage, like minimal ikea furniture music—so empty you can putting anything there but nobody even notice because so boring and beige. seriously, every tune same same kick-snare-kick-snare with little bleep-bloop noises made by laptop guy who never leave apartment because afraid of actual party with real music like drexciya or jeff mills, too much existential fear from real techno with rhythm variation. probably flashcore giving you stroke, BPM higher than your blood pressure after little coffee from starbucks you drinking when listen podcast from defected records, pretending you discovering deep new track nobody heard before.

and cologne acid? nein, impossible for benny, too complicated having actual bassline and groove instead of same boring flatline beep beep beep for pensioners trying pretend still relevant but never dancing because knees already fucked from standing still in ibiza tech house club. music forum now is hospice care for taste like yours, slow dying from boredom, rest in peace because no future there, ja?

maybe you try literature thread better, pretend reading some sad book recommended by guardian newspaper, telling us is really changing your life, ja, now you real intellectual, very deep insight about human condition, like tech house—empty and no point at all.

I mentioned Deleuze because there's traditionally been more interest in him on here and the stuff with Guattari's good for producing ideas and discussion.

yeh because this place is full of petit-bourgeois malcontents. Deleuze and guattari could never submit to impersonal programmatic discipline.

I'd say it's because their thing was generating concepts. They came up with the stuff so that it would keep producing things and being plugged into others.
