idk I haven't seen anything. my guess is they just ignore it. a significant portion of the Israeli govt - all the religious settler types I keep talking about, probably the Haredi - is virulently homophobic, and they seem to just ignore this "we're fighting for love" bullshit. it's a pretty small part of the overall Israeli PR effort and directed mainly at Western liberals so probably easy to just look past. hasbara is sophisticated enough to know there's no sense in marketing your pinkwashing to the RW folks or your evangelical alliances to the queers.
I was gonna say, I thought you mentioned the other day that Likud is ruling in coalition with hardline religious parties who are barely less homophobic than Hamas, and who'd criminalize homosexuality in the blink of an eye if they had the chance.

Yes

It's a "you let us arm the settlers and do whatever tf we want in the WB, and we'll rein in our virulent public homophobia (and racism etc)" kind of deal.

The old 'misfiring rocket' excuse for bombing a hospital went down so well amongst the credulous and terminally stupid the last time that they decided to try it again, only this time even the NYT isnt swallowing it.

Hours after the final blast, the Israeli military blamed unspecified Palestinian militants, saying a “misfired projectile” aimed at Israel Defense Forces troops deployed nearby had instead hit the hospital.

But at least three of the projectiles that struck it appear to have been Israeli munitions, according to pictures of weapons fragments collected and verified by The New York Times and analyzed by experts.

The strikes did not cause mass casualties, but Israel is under increasing international pressure to avoid targeting hospitals. Al-Shifa has emerged as a particular flashpoint: Israel contends it has evidence that the hospital sits on top of an underground Hamas command center and has been warning those still inside to evacuate, even as its troops have been actively working to surround the facility. Hospital officials deny Hamas operates there and have said patients are dying for lack of food, fuel and other supplies.

Israel’s assertion that Al-Shifa was actually hit by a Palestinian projectile echoed similar — and unresolved — claims and counterclaims following munitions that hit the courtyard of another Gaza hospital, Al-Ahli, nearly a month ago.

Footage of scores of bodies on the streets, dogs digging corpses out from the rubble for food, mass graves at hospitals. Bodycount stalled as the entire strip collapses.

If the IDF was claiming 20,000 dead more than a week ago, the number must easily be twice that by now.

There basically are two long-running strands of hardline Jewish terrorism. the first begins with Lehi and the Irgun in the 40s, but the beginning of its modern form is HaMakhteret in the 80s, who came from Gush Emunim, the original settler movement who were backed by Sharon. they were eventually dismantled by Shin Bet. the guy who assassinated Rabin did his religious study at a Gush Emunim yeshiva. the other strand is Kahanism, named after the Jewish supremacist Meir Kahane. there were various Kahanist terror groups. he also had a political party called Kach that was eventually banned for racism. Baruch Goldstein who did the Cave of Patriarchs massacre in Hebron was a Kahanist.

the two current settler parties are Mafdal and Otzma Yehudit. Mafdal has, under a variety of names, been the main religious Zionist settler party since its inception after the 67 war. it's the party of the Hardal, who are ultranationalist Haredim. That's Bezalal Smotrich, the finance minister. Otzma Yehudit (lit. Jewish Power) is Kach under a different name to avoid the ban. That's Ben-Gvir. Kahanism wasn't originally settler-focused, but the two strands seem to have basically grown together over the last 30 years. Kahanism is more overtly racist - population transfers etc - Hardalim are more religiously driven, but the common view is Greater Israel irredentism, annex WB, Jewish supremacy in Israel, and also gay people are bad. Both have Sinn Feinish ties to more recent Jewish terrorism, tho there is no tightly organized equivalent of the IRA.

Ben-Gvir is the guy currently arming private citizens in informal militias with no oversight as fast as possible

Smotrich just called for en masse "voluntary emigration" of Palestinians as humanitarian solution, in some truly high-level gaslighting

He's also the guy who famously said "the Palestinian Authority is a burden, Hamas is an asset" a few years ago

Some crank on Reddit's claiming he's successfully predicted increases in rockets fired from Gaza based on the position of Mars...

I've just read that the reason Israel are so convinced there's a bunker under the hospital is because they built it themselves in 1983.

There is good evidence that astrology can be used for fine-grained prediction. Football clubs have used astrologers to determine their tactics (the proof of the pudding is that the astrologer's service was retained).

Is anyone in this thread claiming that none of these hospitals have any obscured military purpose beyond treating the injured?
