"Lyrically, [he] eschews hip-hop's straightforward style for fits of associative word clusters (a la Kool Keith [...]) that sound like a freestyle battle between a Marxist pamphlet and a technical manual." - Pitchfork on El-P While these words were said about El-P, they hold equally well with TWISTOR, who comes fresh with a similar lyrical style (in this case the manual is one on quantum mechanics), and with beats that are just as dark. With accolades coming in from such diverse artists as Überzone, Kevin Beber, V8 TFD, Utah Saints, Rob Sonic, The Stronghold Collective, KiloWatts, Blu Mar Ten, Burufunk, Earatik Statik, Future Engineers, Stefan Anion, and The Opus, and with his remix of DLabrie's "Vote for Barack" getting statewide radio play in California, TWISTOR is poised as one of future music's most forward-thinking artists today. TWISTOR's music spans the globe (and beyond), having performed everywhere from Minnesota to Lancashire, England, and integrating the same transnational global underground themes present in the works of popular artists such as M.I.A., Immortal Technique, and DJ /rupture. TWISTOR, also known as M.E. Hogan, was born in the small Midwestern college town of Wilmington, Ohio in 1984; TWISTOR now makes her home near Athens, Ohio, and has been producing since 2001 and DJing publicly since 2003. He is the son of noted eco-spiritual educator Richard E. 'Dick' Hogan, Jr., founder of Greenfire Farm. TWISTOR has always stood out from the DJ pack - and not just because her 6'7" frame is impossible to miss. Accepted to university at the age of 14, TWISTOR, now 24, is a leading figure in the midwestern 'postmodern breakz' / meta-hip-hop scene. He is on the B.A.+M.S.+Ph.D. track in high-energy theoretical physics - working on quantum gravodynamics (QGD), aka the 'Primary Theory' of physics. His focus is on causal dynamical triangulation (CDT) theory, and on finding and implementing dualities between M-Theory, Sir Roger Penrose's twistor theory, and Ashtekar/Smolin/Sen/Rovelli's loop quantum gravity (LQG), among others. TWISTOR is also known as the founder of the new field of trans-integral quantum ecosophy, explicitly formulated over the past four years (since 2005), which is formed from a dialectic between Ken Wilber's integral theory, Arne D.E. Næss's ecosophy/deep ecology, Jacques Derrida & Ferit Güven's post-structuralism/deconstruction (reformulated as 'dekonstruction'), Judith Butler, et al.'s pomosexuality studies, integral thought, the philosophies of George F.R. Ellis, Brian W. 'BT' Transeau & Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid, and Brian Swimme & Rev. Fr. Thomas Berry, et al.'s 'The Great Story' movement, all reformulated through the laws of physics (specifically quantum mechanics and relativity) and biochemistry, while continually being aware of the effects of post-colonial theory as well. His work has been called "extremely compelling" by the Department of Sociology and Equity Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. This is all explicated in greater depth in his forthcoming book, 'Everything is Infinite: Chaosophy and the Quantum and Cosmic Foundations of Ecology, Mysticism, and Critical Theory." He is also known for coining the phrases "dialectical reverberation" and "reverb the dialectic" in 2002, which have since been used in several scholarly papers. He is a mathematical physicist (at the University of Massachusetts) specializing in dystopian/political/scientific lyrics (from herself, Vast7 aka Tim Shea, V8, and Just A. Breeze, among others) layered over nu-skool and illbient breakz: IDM, dark ambient, hip-hop, world fusion, and drum'n'bass/jungle; as well as trip-hop and indie with other guest vocalists. He has studied under eminent contemporary composer, professor, and artist Dr. Forrest Tobey, D.M.A. Professor of Music, Earlham College, and Founder, The 21st Century Ensemble. The lyrics of TWISTOR's songs, when present, tend to focus on science, LGBTQQIA++ (queer) issues, philosophy, feminism, Taoism / comparative religon, radical politics, and psychology; some tracks have sci-fi and conspiracy theory undertones, some are set in an Orwellian (Bushian) dystopia, while others pointedly satirize corporate and capitalist greed. TWISTOR also spins breakbeat, hip-hop, drum'n'bass, and IDM as 'DJ TWISTOR,' and trance and progressive house as DJ M-THEORY. The name 'TWISTOR' is based on Sir Roger Penrose's 8-D twistor theory. TWISTOR is co-founder (with Miller M. Tinkerhess (B.Mus., Oberlin Conservatory of Music) and Ed H. "Eddie Gratis" Waisanen) and Director of A&R of PsyDys Media :: The T3Records (T3R) Network, an international collective of independent musicians.
