The worst (though arguably most impressive) case of this has to be GWB's "regular guy" act, convincing millions of working- and lower-middle-class voters that he was "just like them", as opposed to those awful New-England-Liberal-Elite Democrats - ignoring the fact that he was born into a hugely wealthy oil dynasty and was educated (or at least got very drunk) at Yale and Harvard...

That's actually kinda cool. If you think about reductionism as something to be driven towards (for aesthetic purposes or not) in design, there's probably not much more you could really do without on a bike...
